  1. Maestro make 1/48 missiles and pylons. This link to their drawings may help you make some in 1/72 scale? David
  2. What's that on the carb intake in the second pic? Some sort of canvas RBF cover? David
  3. @Selwyn Thank you for that. So - either Airfix and Revell are both wrong or the stuff I read years ago (can't remember which magazine) was wrong and I can throw away the resin inserts I bought that were to fix the ostensibly too short Afx rear fuselage? 🤪 I think I will assume Airfix and Revell both got it right. Thanks again. David
  4. That's intriguing. In the past, I have read that the AFx kit is too short aft of the wing and too long ahead of it. I'd love to know if that is turning out not to be the case as I have several in the stash and no Revell ones. David
  5. Further inspection reveals the cowling is too long too! I should really have checked this kit out more thoroughly before I started. David
  6. It seems the racing Sea Furies in the US have been re-engined with Wright R-3350 that needs a longer cowling. I wonder if PM copied that though I think it's probably just a mistake on their part. David
  7. You're right - I muffed the fuselage band, didn't I? I didn't notice the cowling being long but I will check that against the plans I have and a few other pics. The problem that glares out at me is that exhaust area is too small because they moulded the lower edge of the exhuast area too high . David
  8. I have just noticed the exhaust area is way too shallow on this mould compared to the real thing. So annoyed with myself for not seeing it until now. David
  9. Hawker Sea Fury T.20 VX287. 1831 Squadron RNVR. RNAS Stretton. June 1952. This is the PM Models T.20. It has nice fine engraved panel lines and the fit was good. I didn't do much to it. The main change was scratchbuilding the extended tailplanes that are unique to the trainer version. I also added exhaust stubs, an IP and headrests. I filled the inner gun ports as the T.20, while retaining two overwing cannon bulges per wing, only carried the outer pair of cannons. The mainwheels are from the Frog kit as they have better defined rims. Looking at it now, I see that I should really have replaced the somewhat thick u/c doors and I placed the fuselage roundels slightly too far forward but it's done. I was happy to find a few examples of in-service machines without the ugly periscope fitted. The decals, except the roundels, are home printed. David
  10. Thanks. Yes, the Glencoe one builds to a nice model but, as you point out, it's too big. I have the S&M injected one which looks really nice but for some reasone I chose to build this one first!!!!!! David
  11. Looks amazing. Hard to believe it's 1/72. David
  12. That turned out really well. I love seeing classic kits built to this standard. David
  13. How can one not love that. A gorgeous looking aircraft beautifully built. David
