  1. I would probably spray them with some thin but well covering matt white paint (that can later if desired quite easily be toned down slightly with some yellow/brown), using a masking technique with cut roundels similar to what I used here: https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235089540-mercedes-w154-german-gp-38/&do=findComment&comment=4040635
  2. Life happens and sometimes throw things at us. Take good care of yourself and sort out whatever you have to sort out. There will still be a community here for you when you are ready to return.
  3. Lovely, what a day! Maybe I should move to Britain. Especially at this time of the year...
  4. Your post contains serious thoughts, well worth to have in mind. I often share your priorities in summer time, besides modelling, but I'm afraid I also share some of your darker thoughts in this crazy time we are currently living in... Let's hope that 2024 will, at some point, bring some reason for a more positive outlook. While waiting for this, let us still try to find some joy at the model work bench during this winter, and some good car work and driving when summer once again will approach.
  5. I'd say that's more than quite a good productivity for a year Matt, that's a very impressive output!
  6. That's an impressive collection for a year, and none of them look they were quick to build. Fantastic work!
  7. Thanks Bertie 😎 👍 I'm quite amazed how you can get something like this done in so little time. Looks much more complex than last year's.
  8. Always good to see your lovely collection of airliners!
  9. Very good models, from a very special time. All great work.
  10. Fantastic work on all of them. The P51 especially stands out for me.
  11. As usual you impress with a wide range of subjects, all very nicely finished. Great skills!
  12. A very impressive collection, displaying skills over a wide range of subjects. The Le Renard looks like a year worth of work all alone 👍
  13. 2023 has given more work time at the bench than I anticipated at the start of the year. In the latter part of the year I was actually hoping for more than the nine finished I have managed, but then some of them took a bit more time than others. First project out for 2023 was started on new year's eve, a revisit to Bernd Rosemeyer's winning car from the German GP '36, the mighty Auto Union Type C. This time built from the MFH 1/12 kit, a very enjoyable work it was. WIP - RFI Next was a small tribute build to one of my hero racing drivers, Jean-Pierre Jabouille, who sadly passed away back in February. Here he is with the Renault RS01 from the British GP '77, pioneering what would become the turbo era of Formula 1. The scale is 1/43 and the kit is from Tameo. WIP - RFI This one should have been finished last year if I hadn’t struggled with the magic red paint. The Tamiya 1/24 2022 Mazda Miata MX-5 2,0 RF, built to replicate my own car. WIP - RFI More 1/24 scale Mazda, the ‘91 Le Mans winning 787B, built from the old LMM resin kit. The decals are a mix of the kit's and three different after market sheets. The complete livery was masked and sprayed with Gravity paint and completed with white decal stripes. WIP - RFI More old resin followed, the Opel GT Diesel Record car from ‘72. The kit is from Scale Production and said to be 1/24 scale but barely measures to 1/25. The decals were a real trouble and some were drawn up new from scratch and Alps printed. Some details were improved and new wheels were cadded up by my friend Johan Brusefält and 3D-printed. WIP - RFI The Above the Karman Line GB then provided the opportunity for some space modelling. I dug out the Accurate Models 1/20 scale kit of the Rocketdyne F-1 engine from the stash, not sure if time would be on my side or not. It turned out it was. WIP - RFI With more time left to spend in the Above the Karman Line GB I turned to the Dragon 1/72 scale kit of the Apollo Soyuz Test Project. WIP - RFI Airfix reissued 1/72 kit of the Saunders-Roe SR-N1 Hovercraft went straight up on the work bench. A relaxing and enjoyable build with a few scratched details added. WIP - RFI Another car finish off this year, another Mazda and another rotary engine. The ‘68 Mazda Cosmo Sport L10B. Hasegawa 1/24 scale almost straight from the box. WIP - RFI That’s 2023 for me. I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 2024!
  14. I'm very seriously behind on everything I tried to follow here on BM lately, not to mention on my own workbench... As I was catching up here right now it all looked promising a few pages back with a lot of good inspiring work (yes I didn't note the title change...) but then came the chock surprise. But I can understand your decision. As you say; spending just a short few weeks finishing a compromised model with dying interest is one thing, but spending six moths or even longer on it is just self torture. Life is too short. There are better things to do. Modelling should be enjoyed. Looking forward to see a new project.
