Opinions please.

Heard all kinds of things re the best wat forward. What do people think about a Heller fusalage with Monogram wings, cockpit and u/c. All seems to fit pretty well?

Cheers

There was some information bandied about the internets several years ago to the effect that the Monogram fuselage was way out of whack in several key areas. AFAIK that information has since been proven to be total bunk.

For my money, you can't beat the Monogram kit. It *looks* like an F-84F.

I don't like the Kinetic kit (not least because it requires a resin correction). The panel detail is horribly over-done, and it's covered with rivets, typical of Chinese products.

Actually I quite like the Kinetic kit, but its basically a Monogram rip off with Tamiya gun bay. I have ll three kits and understand that the Mono may or may not be skinny at the rear?

If the Heller fus is accurate then it would work with mono wings etc.

However my pics seem to show the Mono is a late tail and the Heller the early. Really looking for some accurate plans Any pointers?

Right,

after agonising over this for hours and comparing Heller/FM & Mono/Kin fusalage to every side profile photograph I can find on the net, the S/S walkaround, the Redux book, the Aircam and the Airdoc book I now believe the Mono kit is much more correct in the reaR FUS than legend would have it , it is IMHO proportinally much more correct than the Heller, captures the waisted rear end and preggers goldfish look of the real thing much more accurately inc the dia in proportion to the fine base of the exhaust.

n that basis I consider the Caruna plans fatally flawed and I will just build the Monogram and Kinetics I have.

This would nor be the first time the grape vine has dammed a kit unfairly. Also, historically Monogram usually get it right dimensionally and spot on in detail.

Any thoughts?

Here is a discussion of the various kits.

Bruce is the man to talk to about the Thunder series.

After he and I (mostly him) looking at and photographing the F series at numerous locations, I think we (mostly him) can tell you what is the most accurate.

If you want access to my drop box folder for the references I have collected (mostly him) over many years, PM me.

Hello,

I've been reviewing a couple of threads on the F-84F and need help.

I'd like to scratch build a 1/32nd scale F-84F and have found that the 1/48th scale kits I planned to "scale up" really aren't that accurate and that the Caruna drawings I planned to enlarge aren't accurate either!

I've got most of the reference books - are there any that are especially good?

So, I wonder if there are any scale drawings out there that are accurate.

Can any of you help or steer me to someone who could help?

Thank you VERY much!!

If you can find vol 1 of AIRCRAFT ARCHIVE post war jets, you will find some of the best drawings. They actually measured the real thing and did the drawings based on their calculations.

I will see if I can scan the drawings at a hi rez and post them.
