Acky190 Posted August 25, 2010 Posted August 25, 2010 (edited) Hi all, I was wondering whilst looking at my Matchbox Seafox the other day whether it was ever fitted with wheels or if it was always supplied with floats? Anyone care to shead any light on this.... Acky Edited August 25, 2010 by Acky190

DCRanger Posted August 25, 2010 Posted August 25, 2010 The second prototype K4305 was fitted with wheels but later fitted with floats. (No canopy)
AnonymousFO98 Posted August 26, 2010 Posted August 26, 2010 As I have a couple in the stash, this may be a good opportunity to ask if there is any Fairey Seafox info available. Any interior shots to aid scratch building would be very much appreciated Didn't know about the Second prototype having wheels. There weren't that many built and afaik it was a dedicated naval spotter recon aircraft so wheels were superfluous. As ever am open to correction
Julien Posted August 26, 2010 Posted August 26, 2010 Not a lot of info out there when I looked. Was a squeeze getting my pilot in so I dont think you have to worry about scratchbuilding! This is an interesting pic showing racks fitted, like the way the markings have gone on the floats http://www.ww2aircraft.net/forum/album/bla...rey-seafox.html Tiny wheels here on the floats for beaching; http://www.aviastar.org/air/england/fairey_seafox.php I just noticed, cool when I google Fairey Seafox a pic of my model from a couple of years ago comes up Julien

Killingholme Posted August 26, 2010 Posted August 26, 2010 The Seafox was introduced to the public in Flight Magazine 9 December 1937. No detailed interior shots, but a few good drawings of the internal structure which might be of some use. http://www.flightglobal.com/pdfarchive/vie....html?tracked=1 Will
Julien Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 (edited) Thanks for that pic of the 2nd airframe. I might have to do that one. Are there any other pics? Julien Edited August 27, 2010 by Julien

bentwaters81tfw Posted August 28, 2010 Posted August 28, 2010 (edited) Very neat little aircraft. It would look good in 1/32 with Revell's impending Ar 196 Edited August 28, 2010 by bentwaters81tfw

hacker Posted August 28, 2010 Posted August 28, 2010 so what is the difference between a Fairy Seafox done by Matchbox and the Fairy Fox done by Pegasus ?
JosephLalor Posted August 28, 2010 Posted August 28, 2010 Was there much commanality between the Fox and the IIIF? Joseph

John Aero Posted August 28, 2010 Posted August 28, 2010 Was there much commanality between the Fox and the IIIF?Joseph None at all. Neither were the later "Belgian" Foxes (Fox IV's) with the earlier Felix (or Kestrel) Fox. Or of course the Sea Fox. John
Julien Posted August 29, 2010 Posted August 29, 2010 If you wanted to do the wheeled Seafox then the landing gear on the Fox looks like its a goer! Julien
