richellis Posted June 23, 2010 Posted June 23, 2010 OK, As I dont have the revell RyanAir 737, or the welsh vac form yet Im going to build somthing from the stash to get myself started, So with some resin Authentic airliners engines, and a Liveries unlimited iraqi sheet in the stash, along with the Airfix 727!!! This will be the first kit I kick off with!
richellis Posted July 3, 2010 Author Posted July 3, 2010 here are the bits-n-bobs for this build. Im using a Liveries Unlimited sheet, Authentic Airliners engines, and centre intake. Will be doing it as YI-AGR as my Uncle flew this aircraft before the first Gulf war. Will be attempting weathering as Iraqi Aircraft where never clean!
richellis Posted July 3, 2010 Author Posted July 3, 2010 well, made a start when I sent the wife out to do some shopping, I had to do some cutting on the centre engine intake so I could fit the Authentic Resin bit. Top one is done, very easy just cut 16mm off the intake length down to the fuselage. Simples! Once done Ive glued the fuselage together, adding the windows as the decal sheet has the windows on it. the intake is fantastic, thin, chrisp and no seam! well worth the work! A little filler down the join and job done. Wings stuck together but not bothered with pics!
richellis Posted July 6, 2010 Author Posted July 6, 2010 OK, Wings painted, and fuselarge sanded and primed, I must say that the Authentic Airliners stuff has gone on brilliant. Its needed very little filler, and is bang on size!
splinter Posted July 6, 2010 Posted July 6, 2010 OK, Wings painted, and fuselarge sanded and primed, This is sick - 3/4 finished in what ... 3 days ?! Gimme a break ... Your 4 projects won't last even for a month... Its needed very little filler, and is bang on size! Yeah, that looks nice .. Very nice, indeed...
richellis Posted July 6, 2010 Author Posted July 6, 2010 well, Ive started the A318 conversion yesterday, and that will be slow, and Ive got a Vac-form to do as well, so I wanted to finish this and the 1/200 737 quickly
richellis Posted July 9, 2010 Author Posted July 9, 2010 Its painted, and decals going on. Next is to get the engines painted ready to fit!
Prenton Posted July 9, 2010 Posted July 9, 2010 Fast work! Eh... we do have three months, don't we???????? ( Prenton
richellis Posted July 10, 2010 Author Posted July 10, 2010 Yup, I have 2 fast builds, then 2 slow builds!
Milo Black Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 Its painted, and decals going on. Next is to get the engines painted ready to fit! PICTURES!!!!!
richellis Posted July 18, 2010 Author Posted July 18, 2010 Well, I didnt like the decals for the green stripes so some careful masking and painting Ive painted the dark, and light gren stripes on the fuselage. Still needs some tidying up on the wings and the nose, but should be ready to decal tomorrow. I have the authentic Resin engines together and in process of being painted. Will be glued on soon! Again they are spot on and went like a dream!
richellis Posted July 19, 2010 Author Posted July 19, 2010 Yes, I managed to throw some decals on yesterday while the wife was watching a girly film on TV so its starting to look like an airliner now! Will be in the shed later with an old kit trying out some weathering!
woody37 Posted July 19, 2010 Posted July 19, 2010 Great scheme, looking forward to seeing those decals on it.
keefr22 Posted July 19, 2010 Posted July 19, 2010 Those stripes look really neat, nice job all round! That intake looks really good too! Keef
Mark Posted July 19, 2010 Posted July 19, 2010 OK, Airliner GB over, you win! Seriously, that is a nice job there Rich! Great masking for the stripes. What paint did you use?
richellis Posted July 20, 2010 Author Posted July 20, 2010 A mix of Tamiya and humberol acrylics! Bit of a balls up with the decals. The rear door is hidden behind the engine! Bit of work to do!
richellis Posted July 21, 2010 Author Posted July 21, 2010 (edited) OK, most decals are now on, and its getting to the finishing stage, Anyone notice the mistake on the tail????? Resin engines are painted up and glued on. Not a great fit to the airfix kit, but they are about 10000 times better than the airfix bits! Lots of little jobs left, Edited July 21, 2010 by richellis
keefr22 Posted July 21, 2010 Posted July 21, 2010 Now that looks really nice - great job! And no, I can't spot any deliberate mistake....! Keef
richellis Posted July 21, 2010 Author Posted July 21, 2010 Ah, well lets see who will be the first to spot it.......
