US/NATO Missile Cart (1:48)

Another accessory for your 1:48 modern dioramas from the folks at Skunkworks, again packed in a glossy figure-style end opening box. Like the MD-3 Deck Tractor I reviewed earlier, you get 2 sets of two sprues in the box, allowing you to make up two trolleys, and you also get enough parts to vary the supports for your choice of ordnance (as shown in the accompanying copy of the relevant page of the instructions).

Construction is simple and should pose no problem for even the novice modeller. The four wheels are one piece, although well moulded, and the deck of the trolley is nicely textured, with lots of little tie-down points added during construction for added detail.

Also in the box are three mini-sprues, each one containing parts for a figure, each one being different in design. One of the figures is female, although the misogynist modeller could easily convert her to a man if they so wished. All three figures are moulded carrying an AIM-9x missile, which is unfortunately not included in the box, but shouldn’t be too much of a problem, as it’s the most common missile to be included in most suitable kits.

There are no decals included with the kit, as they’re not required, but a painting diagram is included on the rear of the box, with just the one Gunze call-out for Olive Green. The figure painting is left up to the individual, and I imagine would vary slightly depending on the theatre and era of operation. Painting suggestions are however included on the box illustrations.

Conclusion

Neatly moulded, with options to personalise it, the kit makes a useful diorama feature, and would look nice being towed by the aforementioned deck tractor, while “Bombing up” some US Navy heavy metal.
