wadeocu Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 Indeed I have the dream too - any scale would get my $ but 1/350 would be my preference!
colinradford Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 It would be a must buy for me too, I have happy memories of watching Sailor in the '70s.
emlra Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 Now wouldn't that be nice? or Hermes ( with interchangeable decks and aircraft! ) Rex
Panzer Vor!!! Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 count me in saw her come in to pylmouth for the last time : :
AnonymousFO98 Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 1976 would be better Phil we are sailing...
Phil Reeder Posted January 21, 2010 Author Posted January 21, 2010 1976 would be better Philwe are sailing... Whats the difference between the 1975 and 1976(apart from 1976 had a glorious summer)? Cheers Phil
AnonymousFO98 Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 (edited) '75 was a glorious summer too, but more pertinent is that 1976 was the year of the American Bicentennial celebrations. The Ark did a tour stateside and 892's Phantoms wore the legend 976-1976 as a reference to the heritage of the RN and what a bunch of young whippersnappers the Americans are Also the BBC did the documentary "Sailor", hence my reference to the theme tune, by Rod Stewart. Just that there will be media associations for the general public and the 1776-1976 thing oh and me bro was on board Edited January 21, 2010 by walrus
Obi-Jiff Kenobi Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 I'd definitely buy one, even if I had to sell the cat! Get it done, Airfix! Obi-Jiff
Phil Reeder Posted January 21, 2010 Author Posted January 21, 2010 (edited) Ah ! I understand now ,Walrus, personally I don`t care which year it was,as long as we get a kit of Her!! Just as a matter of interest, heres another pic ,this time from the 50`s,Didn`t know Sea Hawks were coal-burning? Cheers Phil Edited January 21, 2010 by Phil Reeder
Vlamgat9 Posted January 22, 2010 Posted January 22, 2010 I'd have one too! Go on Airfix - you know you want to.
Tripehound Posted January 22, 2010 Posted January 22, 2010 Oh stop pussyfooting - 1/144th please, by my back of a fag packet calculations well under six feet long
Obi-Jiff Kenobi Posted January 22, 2010 Posted January 22, 2010 Why not go the whole hog, Tripehound, and ask for 1/72? At least we'd be able to get plenty of aircraft to park on it! Obi-Jiff

Although after several seconds serious consideration I've decided to do it in 1/32 by converting a full-size narrowboat.
Martian Posted January 22, 2010 Posted January 22, 2010 I'd definitely buy one, even if I had to sell the cat!Get it done, Airfix! Obi-Jiff I wouldn't sell my cats to get one but would seriously consider selling my body for one! Martin
Obi-Jiff Kenobi Posted January 22, 2010 Posted January 22, 2010 I wouldn't sell my cats to get one but would seriously consider selling my body for one!Martin Would that be worth more or less than the cats? Sorry, we may be in danger of dragging this Back to the Ark - I've wanted a decent kit of this ship, in any scale, in her 1970s guise (with lots of Phantoms) since about 1976, when I first watched Sailor. I'm sure I'm not alone. Obi-Jiff
