Mike Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 You may remember me wittering on about the Mig Photo-etched nuts that I reviewed a while ago. Well... Lion Roar have taken them one step further, and one step better in my opinion. They have released a broad range of nuts, bolts, screws, and the best news is that there is a whole fret of one type in each bag. That allows the modeller to buy what they need, rather than a few of what they want, and possibly a lot more that they won't use. Perfect! Each sheet is 11cm x 2.7cm, and contains hundreds of your chosen type, all held in by a sheet of clear sticky plastic on each side. The lack of any Photo-Etch attachment points is a boon, allowing the modeller to just pick the cleanly etched bolts from the sheet with a pair of tweezers. Having used them in anger already, they're so easy to use and are much more effective and uniform than trying to build your own from styrene or blobs of glue. The hexagon nuts and round screws are available in 0.6mm, 0.8mm, 0.9mm and 1mm sizes, and the detail on the more niche items is minute. You can get Universal bolts at 0.8mm, which have the stub of the thread projecting upwards, slotted screws at 0.8mm, cross recessed screws at 0.8mm, hexagon nuts with a hole in the middle for ultimate realism, and giving you the option of installing them actually ON a scratch built bolt! These items are now an essential and useful part of my modelling inventory, and are available directly from Airbrushes.com, who are now the proud importers of the Lion Roar range, or from their many distributors.
