Dave T Posted October 2, 2009 Posted October 2, 2009 (edited) Has anyone acquired the re-issued Dambuster and new Möhne Dam yet ? Any pic's ? . Edited December 9, 2009 by Dave T
Mike Posted October 2, 2009 Posted October 2, 2009 I saw it at EA Models today while I was picking up a piece of brass tube. There's a pic on the box of the completed assembly including dam, which is basically a section of the dam, an expanse of water (rippled plastic, before anyone starts!) and a bouncing bomb skipping along the surface on its way to the dam. The Lanc is suspended just over the dam, about to peel off & make itself a harder target. Quite dramatic, and if painted well, should look good

Oily Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 Still nobody got one ? . Still waiting on mine to be delivered
Dave T Posted October 9, 2009 Author Posted October 9, 2009 (edited) Managed to get one from my LMS, so i'll answer my own query as to what you get. In a substantial hinged lid box with 4 Flying Hours, you do of course get an Airfix Lancaster Type 464, plus markings for Gibsons aircraft, paints, glue etc... The Dam comes in three vacform sections approx 25" wide x 13" deep and 5" high when assembled. Instructions show the A frame stand is to be mounted on the reverse side of the water, with the upright poking through a hole you have to make yourself. I'm sure those clever enough will use clear rod, add flak guns, bomb splashes possibly even lights ? Hope this wets someones appetite ? . Edited October 9, 2009 by Dave T
avro683 Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 That looks an interesting set. I wonder if anyone will cut a chunk out of the middle of the dam. Tony
Mark M Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 i was just thinking that, how to get the water splashing through it!, but using the revell lanc instead
TonyT Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 That's totally innacurate, In the Carling Black Label advert you can clearly see a ledge on the back face of the dam for the goalie to stand on..... Do Airfix not do any research? tssk tssk

DamienB Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 Decent stab at that particular dam - brilliant idea.
TonyT Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 Kids will love it, big and small......... and with the film coming out soon it will be a winner
daz greenwood Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 I will be using the Airfix Dam set, but with the new tool Revell Dumbuster's Lanc.
TonyT Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 I will be using the Airfix Dam set, but with the new tool Revell Dumbuster's Lanc. use both and have Gibson flying top cover
wally7506 Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 Totally inaccurate (beer commercial aside) since Gibson MISSED the dam (and those are the only markings I see on the decals).
ben_m Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 Why are the towers flat-topped when the box art shows the correct(?) roof-line?
Dave T Posted October 9, 2009 Author Posted October 9, 2009 (edited) Why are the towers flat-topped when the box art shows the correct(?) roof-line? Front box art is wrong. Tower roofs were removed during the war to provide flak position and reinstated post war as shown in Damien's photo. . Edited October 9, 2009 by Dave T
Iain Ogilvie Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 Not my scale - but top marks to Airfix for the concept - I hope it sells well for them! Iain
Oily Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 Totally inaccurate (beer commercial aside) since Gibson MISSED the dam (and those are the only markings I see on the decals). Gibson hit the dam but failed to breach it I'm getting this set(if Frontier Models get off their bottom and send it to me ) and i'm trying to find out which flak guns were on the dam,I've tried googling but to no avail?? Also could you use the Eduard exterior/interior photo-etch sets on the Airfix Lancaster?(the sets are made for the Revell Lancaster)
