Will the bar be open this year? the Sheffield and Rotherham drinking club have had to brave Huddesfield on a Sunday for the last coupler of years. Huddersfield is my favourite show of the year and there are several excellent pubs. Take a five minute walk up to the railway station the Head of Steam does a lovely three course sunday lunch. A few minutes walk away from the station are The Grove and the Rat and Ratchet two fabulous real ale bars. |

I second that, the Head of Steam has got to be one of the best pubs in the North of England - I have not come to many better in the country come to it. Quite why Oz Clarke and James May only went to the Kings Head at the other end the station on their trans Pennine rail trail pub crawl, as Toyah Wilcox once said is a Mystery. Marty... |

OK, the Huddersfield Show is only a few weeks away now, so who's going?
I'm in Oldham, so only half an hour's drive away (in my little Fiat anyway), and hoping to meet a few of us! |

Sadly my daughter is likely to be going back home that Sunday not going to postpone seeing the princess not even for all the plastic in China Can't blame you, being with your kids (especially ones who don't live with you, and even if they're grown up(!)) is more important than almost anything! Isn't it one of the tragedies of parenthood that eventually your children stop being children, but parents NEVER stop being parents! How old is your princess? Mine are 22 and 19 now! |
