dylan the rabbit Posted July 7, 2007 Posted July 7, 2007 (edited) Just perusing the stash and wondering what to build. I'm thinking of doing 2 kits, and the hot faves at the moment are a 1/48th Revell Fokker DVII (easy no rigging!) and an Aeroclub 1/48th RE8 (lots of rigging!). What are you all going to do? Also, howzabouty we have a banner!? Like the one below? We like? Cheers, Nick Edited July 24, 2007 by dylan the rabbit
Bobs_Buckles Posted July 7, 2007 Posted July 7, 2007 Nick, I think I'm going to break scale tradition and plumb for the new Roden Pfalz DIII in 1/32 scale. Going to pour all my love into that beauty cos she is my fav German type. OH YES! Bob
plastic constructor Posted July 7, 2007 Posted July 7, 2007 (edited) I have to admit that I was looking at a couple of Hobbycraft 1/32 kits in the stash I bought as something different to build, this could be the push I need. Edited July 7, 2007 by plastic constructor
miduppergunner Posted July 7, 2007 Posted July 7, 2007 I have in mind the Airfix 0/400 or the Roden Gotha - but they are only 1:72nd scale - then I will probably be sensible and do something else. Like the Banner by the way. David
dylan the rabbit Posted July 7, 2007 Author Posted July 7, 2007 1/72 rigging is not an old man's sport! Quite. I've been rigging a 1/72nd Sopwith Pup for over a week now and it requires patience! One string at a time.. I've got a 1/28th Sopwith Camel, a Fokker DR1, and a 1/32nd Nieuport 17 in the stash. Maybe if we're all going big, I'll have to step up to the plate too. Who knows? Still like the idea of the RE8, although there's a lot of white metal in there. Not sure about that.... Glad you like the banner David. Those two kit ideas of yours are adventureous to say the least! Cheers, Nick
miduppergunner Posted July 7, 2007 Posted July 7, 2007 Well I had quite an adventure with the Novo Vimy - see below!!
dylan the rabbit Posted July 7, 2007 Author Posted July 7, 2007 Well I had quite an adventure with the Novo Vimy - see below!! REALLY nice... How long did it take you? Oh, the rigging, the rigging....
plastic constructor Posted July 7, 2007 Posted July 7, 2007 (edited) I have the following choice from the stash ... Hobbycraft 1/32 RFC Camel 'Le Rhone' Hobbycraft 1/32 Nieuport 17 This is the first time I've built anything like this so I'm looking forward to it. The rigging will be a challenge! miduppergunner Posted July 8, 2007 Posted July 8, 2007 I can't really say how long it took to build the Vimy - it was one of those intermittent builds - a bit now and again!
Bobs_Buckles Posted July 8, 2007 Posted July 8, 2007 I can't really say how long it took to build the Vimy - it was one of those intermittent builds - a bit now and again! It doesn't matter how long... when the results are sooooooo excellent! Well done that man. Bob Von Buckle
airjiml2 Posted July 24, 2007 Posted July 24, 2007 Somehow I missed this one. As WW1 aircraft are my current obsession, I think I'll join in. I've got an Esci Camel and the Eduard Dr.I going. For the group build...hum, I dunno. Should I step up to the Devil Scale of 1/48 and do something big, or just do the little Eduard Nieuport 17 that is sitting next to the desk...hum... This will take some thought. Jim

russ Posted September 9, 2007 Posted September 9, 2007 i fancy a crack at this as well, I think I'll enter with a Fokker DVII from Roden in 72nd, but maybe a swiss scheme.
