Finally, after starting this back in August 2011 and then putting it aside for 3 1/2 months while I waited until I could afford to invest in an airbrush, I present the completed 1:48 scale Revell Rafale M.

This has a pilot figure from PJ Productions, plus the Eduard etch set. The stand is an Airfix 1:24 scale stand with a piece of brass rod. Paint is Tamiya plus Flory Models washes.

Its a nice kit but the wing joints are a bit of a bugger! Lots of stencils! This was built as per the instructions to represent a plane from the Flotille 12F.

Its Light Grey XF 20 over a base of Tamiya grey primer. I had a go at pre-shading but made a bit of a mess of it (was my first time however!) Was was flory models black wash over Klear.

The missiles were a lighter shade that I mixed ages ago and left in the bottle so I can't remember what it was mixed from but most likely XF 20 plus white. I used pretty much a whole jar of XF 20 on this - it got painted 3 times, one with 2 or 3 coats applied by brush and twice by airbrush and stripped back to primer after the first two cock ups!

Thanks for the comments, glad you liked it - it does look rather spectacular on the shelf :)

very nice build, finish for a first time airbrush effort, jets do look better in flight!

nice work. If you put on those dark green gbu bombs, they would be even better

This is old (initial) relase of Rafale M from 1999. GBU & bomb racks have new re-tool relase from 2012. This first relase haven't a chaff magazines beyond on the sides beyond nozzles. But - nice Rafale !

I have also got the new tool one in my stash. A great bargain from the far-gone cardiff modelzone for just £6.99
