Deanflyer Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 OK folks, here it is. Built completely out of the box except for a couple of cushions and harnesses on the seat. Halford's white primer underneath, Vallejo acrylic on top, a bit of Alclad here and there, and Tamiya everywhere else. I know there's things wrong with it, but I'm not too worried - It was built as a stress buster, after all! 28 hours - fastest build for a long time - I'm halfway towards last year's total already! Cheers, Dean
Mike H Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 That's an absolute stunner. Beautiful markings.
GrahamS Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 Definately a bit Thunderbirds that one! Like it Graham
AndyC Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 (edited) I love the 'Ford' - one of the best looking USN jets ever and you did a great job and it's a great kit too! Andy Edited January 27, 2012 by AndyC
Luis Alfonso Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 (edited) A real beauty!! Wonderful build, nice finish, overall some 15/10, I like it a lot. Congratulations. The detail of the refuelling tank probe looks nice, it refuels only this tank or all the fuel tanks? cheers, Edited January 27, 2012 by Luis Alfonso
Epeeman Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 Not really my thing, jets - but I can really appreciate good work when I see it - lovely work, Dean. Epeeman
prowler0000 Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 Yup, love it too!!!!! I remember buildin the Airfix 72nd kit back in about 1980, & wanted another, bigger one ever since, So this brings back happy times for me! (just worked out: 32 years in the past!!!!! WOW....)
kpc7676 Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 Very nice job on what I consider to be a tough build. I have done two of them and both of them caused me some minor niggles. Well done, and even better for such a short period of building time.. good stuff.
Julien Posted January 28, 2012 Posted January 28, 2012 That looks great. One of Tamyias best kits IMHO Julien
Spitfire31 Posted January 28, 2012 Posted January 28, 2012 Really neat and competent build. Beautiful rendition of one of my fave jets! /Joachim
the MDman Posted January 28, 2012 Posted January 28, 2012 A very nice and clean build, it looks wonderful.
raif Posted January 28, 2012 Posted January 28, 2012 Very nice indeed, I recently finished the 1/72 version and posted it on here, Deanflyer your Skyray is a little beauty and a lovely neat and tidy finish, much more so than my effort! I love it!
Enzo the Magnificent Posted January 28, 2012 Posted January 28, 2012 I know there's things wrong with it Really? You'll have to point them out. Y'know, on second thoughts, don't. Because it looks superb. And you are very probably being very overcritical of the "flaws".
dhtmo Posted January 28, 2012 Posted January 28, 2012 That's a smasher. I've always had a liking for the Skyray. Still looks look. Nice work Dave
