Dave T Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 As a fellow Jaguar fan, i'd though i'd expand on Damien's excellent kit comparison thread [ Clicky HERE ] over in the Jaguar group build and post some 'Whats in the Box' type photo's. Alas i don't have every example of kits & aftermarket mentioned above, so hopefully others will contribute, but here's the Frog kit to start things off..... .

Dave T Posted April 17, 2009 Author Posted April 17, 2009 The Italeri/Revell/Marks & Spencers GR.1A..... .
atdb27 Posted April 17, 2009 Posted April 17, 2009 The Italeri/Revell/Marks & Spencers GR.1A..... Thought the base/original was Hasegawa? One of the better renditions in this scale for sure but the airbrakes do not have 'raised' oblongs! These should be 'slots'! Adrian
Dave T Posted April 18, 2009 Author Posted April 18, 2009 I thought the Italeri kits were fresh tooling myself, but hopefully someone will put up Hasegawa pic's as i don't have one .
Vladan Dugaric Posted April 18, 2009 Posted April 18, 2009 I thought the Italeri kits were fresh tooling myself, but hopefully someone will put up Hasegawa pic's as i don't have one Hasegawa and Italeri kits are different. I don't have my kits here with me (currently on a holiday in Malaysia with my wife and son at wife's parents' place), but Hasegawa has much finer panel lines, both noses (with and without laser - it has both French and RAF marking options so all parts are in the box, unlike Italeri). There are other minor differences too, but all Jaguar kits are pretty much alike. Hasegawa does have holes in speed brakes molded as raised bumps, and Italeri has the holes in the wrong place (I think they are based on the prototype, but might be wrong). There are posts around the Internet forums discussing the merits and problems of various Jaguar kits. Someone mentioned that Hasegawa nose seems a little bit off in shape. Nevertheless, of all the Jaguar kits in 1/72, Hasegawa has the nicest surface detail, and is currently around £11 (I got mine in Modelzone Holborn about three weeks ago when they got restocked). ollieholmes Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 Is this thread only for 1:72 or are 1:48th welcome to? I have 3 of the Airfix GR3 kits in the stash and i am happy to get some photos of them. No box though.
Master Zen Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 The Italeri Jag also has the goodies that the Hase is missing: drop tanks and ECM pods. Cockpit detail is also raised. However, the Hase has better fit supposedly. The Italeri also has incorrect markings for it's Gulf War machine (the Revell re-box is probably spot on, though). And good luck trying to find an Italeri Jag A anywhere... they are quite rare so if you're planning a French single-seater, you'll probably have no choice but the Hase.
NZKIWI Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 From memory the Frog kit in two seater form has a very long canopy .
Dave T Posted April 23, 2009 Author Posted April 23, 2009 (edited) Yes, any Jag's can be included. Would especially welcome a comparison between Airfix and Esci 1/48, anyone ? Anyhow, some more photo's, this time my own recently acquired example of Matchbox Jaguar GR.1 and the original Heller tooling..... . . Edited April 23, 2009 by Dave T
ollieholmes Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 I will sort them out later tonight. Are we also including resin conversions? I have the Neomega resin sets that i could photograph for you.
John Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 And the Heller re-boxed (re-tooled ?) Airfix kit as French Jaguar A. I've got one of these too Moulded in different colours though Interesting! I think it's an Airfix kit with a new, retooled, fuselage and tanks. We picked over the various 1/72 Jaguar kits a while back, IIRC. John
Dave T Posted April 23, 2009 Author Posted April 23, 2009 John and Ollie, Yes we have been over this before, in Damians thread in the (now closed) Jaguar group build. A link to which is included in my initial post of this thread. In summary, this is merely a continuation of the subject but with photo's, any & all of which are welcome. .

Hi Dave, Having purchased both the ESCI one too many moons ago I can say that the best thing is the decal sheet! Go with the Airfix one and all the various Paragon/Eduard add ons Adrian
