Mark Posted July 11, 2010 Posted July 11, 2010 (edited) Hi all, Well, here she is! TwoSix Decals (beautiful and very nice to use!) BraZ resin engines and the inner wing fence was scratch built with some evergreen plastic sheet. The finish is Halfords Appliance White and XtraColour RAF Barley Grey on top of Tamiya rattle can white fine surface primer. A bit of ProModeller wash to highlight the control surfaces was also applied. I could not resist building the passenger steps, although they are way over scale. The pax are more likely to be climbing on the roof rather than enter the cabin! Anyway, here she is just waiting for the crew to take her and some lucky passengers down to Johannesburg. I hope you like her and as always, criticism is more than welcome! Edited July 11, 2010 by busdriver 2
daz greenwood Posted July 11, 2010 Posted July 11, 2010 Very nice Vicky 10 Mark. I prefer the BOAC livery over the BA one just looks better IMHO.
richellis Posted July 11, 2010 Posted July 11, 2010 very, very nice! That BOAC livery looks sooooooo good on the VC10!
Natter Posted July 11, 2010 Posted July 11, 2010 As a member of the BOAC Junior Jet Club in the '60s I did over 25,000 miles with the airline; mostly on VC10s. Ah, your kit brings back fond memories. Lovely build.

Smiffy Posted July 11, 2010 Posted July 11, 2010 Eeee, that's reet nice. Looks almost regal in that paint scheme.
Mark Posted July 12, 2010 Author Posted July 12, 2010 Cheers Paul, I still think she's the most elegant airliner ever. Well, apart from that Brit/French supersonic thingy....
woody37 Posted July 12, 2010 Posted July 12, 2010 Lovely build. I was saddened at the deterioration of the Duxford one yesterday, the weather is taking its effect on her. You've done a great job their Mark, hope to see the stuff on your bench finished soon too.....no pressure !!!!!!!!
vtecjack Posted July 12, 2010 Posted July 12, 2010 Looks very good,I do like that BOAC livery,I have built one myself,I am tempted to bild another in the interim BOAC/BA scheme
richellis Posted July 12, 2010 Posted July 12, 2010 I was saddened at the deterioration of the Duxford one yesterday, the weather is taking its effect on her. your are right Neil, I was there a few weeks back and they could all do with a paint. TBH the insides are in top condition. i got on the VC10, and had a chat to the chap from DAS and they are raising funds to get the VC10, trident, and 1-11 done but it prob wont be an easy re-paint. Some repair could be needed, bit like an old car, one job, leads to another, leads to another etc. Credit to DAS for doing it at all. We have next to no civil aviation preserved in the UK, exept Concorde.
Mark Posted July 12, 2010 Author Posted July 12, 2010 hope to see the stuff on your bench finished soon too.....no pressure !!!!!!!! Quick enough for you? here
Graeme H Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 Very well done, You say Two Six decals, are they the later screen printed one?
Obi-Jiff Kenobi Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 Lovely build, beautiful aeroplane, best colour scheme. Obi-Jiff
theconfidencestoat Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 Very nice, VERY nice. I have three on the go, two standards and a super. The super will be G-ASGH which took me from LHR-MEL in 1972. My Junior Jet Club log book was signed by then Chief pilot AG 'Tommy' Thompson, who was a hurricane pilot in WW2, his signature also appears on my Robert Taylor print 'Glorious Summer'.
David H Posted July 16, 2010 Posted July 16, 2010 Very nice looking "Iron Duck". Have you seen the promotional BOAC film over on YouTube called "Top Flight"? It has some good close up imagery of the VC-10 prototype. Very nice looking model. Pity we don't have a better representation in plastic (Welsh Models kit excepted, of course) david Hi all,Well, here she is! TwoSix Decals (beautiful and very nice to use!)
