oldrover Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 Hello, Could you please tell if there are any good photos of the Meteor's main wheel wells? those in Tamiya's 1/48 kit look like empty boxes with some grid-like relief. They can't be so plain and boring in real life! TIA Regards, Ilya

They can't be so plain and boring in real life! TIA Regards, Ilya Here's one from the Modellers Datafile book on the Meteor: The caption reads: You are looking directly upwards into the wheel well alongside the main strut and here can be seen the linkage and hydraulics associated with the leg's retraction. The lagged pipes running from side to side are hot air pipes that bleed air off the exhaust to warm the cannon bays.
venomvixen Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 If you can wait till Sunday I can take some happy snaps of our F8.
oldrover Posted February 2, 2012 Author Posted February 2, 2012 GordonD - thanks for the great photo! It seems there is a huge room for possible improvement. But red color - is it primer or some kind of protective coating? venomvixen - thank you for your kind suggestion! so I will eagerly wait for Sunday. Thank you again! Regards, Ilya
John Aero Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 The bays and the inside of the flaps etc should be Silver. It looks as though someone has slapped Red Lead all over that wheelbay. Aardvark Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 My eyes don't bring me? In a nose whell bay the fuselage surface is covered by a gray-green primer? B.R. Serge
