What does BIS mean????????? please help

Red Arrow Jag

Recommended Posts

I understand that in normal Russian usage it is the sense of "again", or "encore", but in aircraft it is usually applied after a considerable redesign of the type, more significant that the regular upgrading. In the case of the MiG 21 it was a structural redesign.

It was also used of the I-15bis, and this was followed by the I-15ter, more commonly known as the I-153.

In Latin, it means "twice" or "a second time".

Usually taken to mean the next version of something...originally used by Santos DuMont and his no.14 Biplane and the No.14Bis that followed.

Something like that anyway...:D
