Anybody had any luck with Airfix replacement parts?

Hi guys I have the Airfix Spit MkVb in 1/24th scale (off ebay) but the decal sheet is ruined, I contacted them from the web site asking if they had a replacement sheet to sell. I got the initial response email but nothing else and that's been around a month now so has anybody received anything from them.

I know some people who have got parts very quickly and others who are still waiting. I think it depends on how common the kit is and wether they have any spare parts for it. I know there is a very large number of requests which they are processing. It took a very long time to collate and register and sort all the spares that Hornby inherited when they took over.

Depends if that particular kit is in production I s'pose, especially after Airfix going bust earlier this year.

I've found their responses variable, but give them a call on their 0845 helpline & you'll probably get a better response. Last I heard they were having difficulty sourcing the decals I wanted for my Jags, as they were out of print, so I think there's a lot of "luck of the draw" in finding some.

Are there no AM sheets that you could get hold of?

Techmod do a couple of sheets for 1/24 Vbs. Might be a better bet.

Thanks guys, I have been warned not to use the Techmod sheets as the guys who have used them said they break up when they come into contact with water and the stencils are useless.

I've never had any problem with Techmod sheets myself, but if they are prone to fracturing a coat of Micro Liquid Decal Film should keep things in order.
