Airfield crash tenders

Hi guys,

This is one of those questions thats a little obscure BUT... Does anyone know if there's any model kits out there of modern airfield crash tenders? Preferably one's in use by the RAF (Alvis Unipower RIV OR the bigger MFV, can't think what it called)

I'm only asking because I have a little idea in my head but cant find this one key part!

I know it's not strictly and armoured wagon but I am after the military type vehicles...

Can anyone help?

Cheers

James - I've deleted your other two topics because you were bordering on spamming us out. The AFV section is the most appropriate section, as it covers military vehicles and you talked of airfields and the RAF, rather than airports. Please - only post once in future :)

The bigger one, I think, is the Carmichael Jetranger. £25 from BW Models

Or there is the Mk 11 Crash Tender From BW Models £33.00

Follow the link and scroll half way down the page.

Mike - sorry about that. Didn't know where to put it for best so tried to cover all the bases.

Rob - Thanks for the link, thats exactly what I'm after.

:D

Evalman - Thats another good bit of info'. That model definately doesn't look cheap but I think it may be worth it. Thanks :)

I don't think the RIV and MFV are available in either 1/72 or 1/76 scale.

Fire Brigade Models do a MFV in 1/48 scale but it is not cheap:

I like the look of that, do you have any pics of it completed?

Evalman - Just thinking about a tonka or something like that on the Pan with some ground crew around it... I'm not a so called 'rivet counter' or anything, I just enjoy building them for the challenge.

Ferny - if you go on the 'Fire Brigade Models' website and look under either the 80's or 90's section there's a finished kit there.

If you are thinking 1/72 scale these figures may interest you. I bought them from Fire Brigade Models a couple of months ago and they would be suitable for RAF / RN / MOD Firefighters from about 2000 onwards. I have photographed them with a couple of Mark 9's which were just going out of service when these fire suits were introduced, these figures would be ideal for a RIV or MFV. Like BW Models they are 1/76 scale but as you can see they don't look out of place when displayed next to the 1/72 Lynx:

Wiking of Germany also make Rosenbauer diecast crash tenders in 1/43 and 1/87 scale.

I guess the 1/87 might be a touch too small for 1/72 but they're nicely finished and available in a variety of airport schemes.

Cheers,

Dermot

Hi Guys, I have purchased the whole of the RAF Fire Range of Barry from BW as he as you may all know retired. I am not in production yet but soon will be. I am in the process of building the masters for the MFV so we will be all up to speed with the Modern stuff. Many thanks

Paul
