External detail set from Platz of Japan

The Boeing 727 was one of the most popular airliners ever built, it is a medium sized airliner with 3 engines mounted on the rear of the fuselage. The Boeing 727 has a complex system of flaps to alow it to use smaller runways, and is credited with bringing jet travel to the masses. It was launched in 1963, and even now some are still flying as cargo aircraft. If you want to model the 727 in 1/144 scale you have the option of the Airfix kit and the Minicraft kits that are widely available now, or the harder to fined Revell kit. This photo-etch from Platz will fit he Airfix and Minicraft models.

The sheet is mainly taken up with the rear air-stairs with fine handrails and supports. The stair treads will need careful bending and gluing to the backing. I think Id use the kit parts, adding thephoto-etched handrails and supports. The sheet also has details for the main and nose landing gear, with various struts and details catered for. There are nose gear doors on the sheet but none for the main landing gear. Finally on this sheet are lots of antenna, and some pitot tubes, far too many for one model so some will be found going into the spares box

The instructions are in Japanese with no English but the diagrams are easy to follow, but not all of the parts are shown on the instructions, so some research will be needed!

Conclusion

A nice little detail set for the Boeing 727, and with the added bonus of some extra Pitot tubes and antenna for the spares box.
