Ford Transit Van

What a disaster this lot is turning out to be. I have very nearly binned the whole lot several times!!

The suspension on the long wheelbase has collapsed under the weight of the body and is now lying in bits on the workbench and the paint on the second body shell will not dry properly.

The chassis cab had the same problems, so it has been stripped down and has had a plastic front end grafted onto it from another kit.

This is now in the process of being rebuilt and should be sorted soon.

I will try and post some photos up when I get a chance.

Rich

Are you referring to the single wheels or the twin ones?

Rich

The twin rear wheels are 27mm overall diameter and 16mm wide (overall across both tyres)

You will have to remember that the centre line of the twin wheels and the single wheels are the same, so you will have to shorten the rear axle accordingly to accommodate this.

Hope this helps

All you will need to do is to move the rear springs inward slightly and deepen the cut out for the wheels in the chassis base.

The other idea is to construct a new rear section of chassis and graft it onto the front end of the resin one as I have done.

Just a couple of photos of the latest progress with the chassis cab.

I have also made a start on some bits for the load

This is another body shell that I have been experimenting with as well.

I have actually finished the chassis cab tipper now.

It has taken a while and tried my patience somewhat, but I think it has turned out well.

It certainly had a good reception at the IPMS show in Telford last weekend.

See what you think.

Next up is the long wheelbase van.

I think a total rebuild is in line for that one!!

More soon.

Hello Love the Transit Mk2.

I have a 1979 Transit Mk2 as in pic which I cut & added 4 foot in the middle & added another door 10 years ago.

I am currently building a slot car set and thought it would be great to make up my Transit Van for the track. THEN I found your pics fantastic. I was thinking how hard it was going to be. Do you sell your van shells. I would love to buy 2 if you do if possible. I just love my Tranny I bought it in 1980 & we have had a great time lol. I cant find anything here in Australia.

Please let me know - Thank you Kevin
