Metallicus
Hi everyone We have some cracking models being built here so I thought I better pull my finger out and start mine. Now this is an old kit and to be honest not that great so I though I would try my hand at some scratch building and detailing etc. This will be my first real attempt at something like this so be gentle......but please feel free to give pointers and suggestions. Well here we go with the first couple pics I have remove the kit fairing and replaced with .25mm plastic card and some evergreen strips. I then moved onto the back of the IP and filled and addded the various bumps that the cabling will attach to later. I also had a go at recreating the lower console based loosely on pics I have (the kit one was blank and smooth). I added switch and knobs. I have made up the armour plates for the seats and glued into place as well I have added some basic detail to the rear cabin floor and the bulkhead that separates the cockpit and the cabin put the seats in for a test fit. All in all I am more or less happy with the results, I have to improve a hell of a lot more to compete with the standard on here. Thanks for looking Brenden Edited April 17, 2011 by Metallicus
PhantomPhreakII
Don't wanna know where you put your finger. but..... That is coming along nicely, given the fact that both Revell kitys can be c alled "basic"... Harald

Metallicus
Thanks Avgass. Ok well I have managed to carry on with the Loach interior, more scratch building and swearing......... First off the seats got the reinforcing strips on them and some primer I have not remove the seat belts as I am going to cover them with some material to emulate the "cushion's" Got some more work done on the IP and s shot of primer Then....now this is wear the swearing came in..... The rear cabin bulk head in the kit was completely wrong so I made a template and made a new rear bulk head with the correct piece from the kit. Then I had to scratch the folding seats for the cabin (1 folded and one extended (still have to put the legs on)) Minigun system implace with a few scratch details for the rear cabin. The front cabin is all done bar a few minor details which will be added later. Again all extra's have been scratch built Here are a few pics of everything in place for a test fit. I have moved onto the Huey and started with the seats which were bare and plain I scratched the seat supports, cover the rear and the armour plates Thanks for looking and any comments welcome, good or bad. Metallicus
Hello all I have got cabin installed and fuse halves together, with a test shot of paint on the fuse to see if the colour I have is correct (looks ok ). I still have the wiring to add and the the back of the IP to finish, clean up the cyclic's and more detail painting to do, hope to get that done this weekend. the seat cushions are made from toilet paper soaked in super glue and the seat belts are made from the surround of a wine bottle top. Not really happy with them so I'll give them another go this weekend as well. Once all that is done I will start on Huey interior and scratch up a few details that are missing from the kit. Anyway here are the pics As always thanks for looking! Cheers Brenden

Avgas
I hope this doesn't sound patronising - it's not meant to at all - but your skills and sense of adventure (modelling-wise, trying new things) are really coming along at a rate! I take it you got the heating sorted in your cave with all the modelling you've been able to do Looking good, boet. Modelling inside at the moment and pop out to the ice cave to shoot paint...lol Have you got anything on the go at moment?
Avgas
Na mate - I'm still hanging bits off the Rafale at a rate of one a week or so. I'm on a bit of a go slow at the moment..
Metallicus
Hi all Got quite a bit done on Huey this week. I basically have the the cabin ready to be glued into place but before I can do that I need to build up the engine and the engine bay, so that will be this weeks job. Anyway here are the this weeks progress pics. I tried to dirty up the rear cabin floor a bit. As this is a Slick (troop carrier) I assumed it would get quite muddy in there. The dangly wire bit thingies in the rear cabin are for the headsets ( the last phot will explain). The pilots and troop belts are made from tape Here is a pic of the Loach masked up for some paint my attempt at scratching up a headset...... think i will keel trying...lol here is size comparison shot As always thanks for looking! Metallicus
Hi guys and lady Just a small update from me! Been really cold out in the man cave so not much getting done! The Huey's fuse halves are together sanded, puttied and sanded again, clears masked using Micro Liquid Mask. On the engine cover's I cut out the plastic "mesh" and replaced it with Fine woven brass mess, looks much better in my opinion. Anyway here a few pic's As always thanks for looking Cheers Brenden
