A photo I have of a post war Hadrian shows that its overall Silver scheme has been crudly applied by brush (you can see the brush marks). I still wonder about the speed of the Heyford though. The maximum tow speed for a Hotspur was 130 mph (Note mph not Knots) and its VNE was 160 mph, airspeeds which were limiting when it came to towing Hotspurs with Spitfires and probably the reason the Canadians gave up on the idea of using Hotspurs behind their Spitfires for the invasion of Normandy. I agree its nomal to lower the nose and gain speed before casting off, but the slack in that cable in the photograph is excessive. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
