M4rk
My most recent finished kit, and the last of the year I expect. Nothing adventurous or particularly different, Tamiya's venerable old P-51D kit (the boxing with the figures and staff car - which is yet to be made) made fresh from the box and finished with Aeromaster decals. Painted with Alclad II (various shades) and Tamiya acrylics. The model represents the aircraft flown by Lt. Col. Gordon Graham of the 354th FS, 355th FG in March/April 1945. I don't know a great deal about the history other than that on the Aeromaster sheet, I only chose it because I liked the white nose and it was a bit different to the usually seen schemes . I did paint up the two figures as well, although I certainly don't claim to be a figure painting specialist! The red trim around the white nose area is all made up of decals, which proved a bit tricky and delicate, but went down well eventually. I did this more as a quick fun build than anything else, but it was good to get some more practice using Alclad for an all-over natural metal finish. Once again though preparation has proven to be ultra important, the wing roots looking a bit 'grainy' showing I still need to spend longer on the primer coat finish before moving to the lacquers! Rob C
That's a great looking model. As you say very unusual scheme. Excellently finished. Alclad looks good too.

Nick Milham
Beautiful job on a very colorful aircraft. In 1972 Gordon "Gordie Ace" Graham was a 3-star general and commander of Fifth Air Force in Japan. He endorsed my efficiency report that year when I was a lowly captain.
