Fifer54
I'm back! I've not done with this GB yet. I've got a target light tank, a British light tank in fact. A Vickers MkVI to be exact. Here it is.......... It comes with 3 finishing options, 2 of which are for machines which served with the BEF in France. The finished model is tiny (51x27mm!). 35 parts make up the kit, and the decal options cover 3 different subtypes of MkVI. A VIa from 3rd Battalion, the Royal Tank Regiment, Lydd 1938, VIb of the 4th/7th Royal Dragoon Guards, 2nd Infantry Division, BEF 1940, or a VIc of the 9th Lancers, 2nd Armoured BGE, 1st Armoured Division, BEF 1940. The VIb option is the vehicle that's on display in the Tank Museum at Bovington so that's probably what I shall build! Fifer54
but this little thing goes together easily and quickly. I opened the box 15 minutes ago, and it looks like this already I'm afraid i've taken a liberty with the armament....On the real thing the Mk.VIa & b models used Vickers machine guns, on the VIc a longer-barrelled BESA machine gun was used. I've fitted the BESAs to my Mk.VIb, 'cos I think it looks better with them, so Back soon with more progress! I've just realised the photo is bigger than life-size! Fifer54
Getting there now... Hull assembled and tracks on..... Now to get some paint on it. I'l be finishing it in the scheme on the Mk.VI in the Tank Museum at Bovington, but "in use" rather than "on display"!
Fifer54
First coat of paint has been applied, along with tracks & suspension painted... Coming along well! But doesn't that flash photography cut through the paint!!! It looks a lot more even in the plastic!
Fifer54
It's now in two shades of green, I've used Humbrol 102 Army Green for the main colour, and Humbrol 30 Dark Green for the "disruptive stripes", which will need another coat, then Klear, decals and a wee bit of weathering! These pictures are all "larger than life"!
Fifer54
Both colours have been recoated, the glosscoat has been applied, and here we are part way through decal application. Getting to the end now...
