Andre B
How hard would it be for Airfix (or any one ells for what it matter) to make an F-86D with this kit? Just an new nose and fuselage halves? Are those wings usefull for an F-86D or does Airfix have to make an completely new kit? /André Edited April 18, 2017 by Andre B
Julien
They would only have to put a new fuselage, wings, tail planes, canopy etc.

Julien
There was only a 25% cominalty of parts between the F and the D. It suffered from the same problem as the F-84E and F. The USAF decided to limit cash for new aircraft so manufactures came up with the idea of making a new model of an existing aircraft even though when in effect it was a new aircraft. In fact in terms of the F-86D ut was really an F-95.

I think it was the US Government rather than USAF who made the limitations
