As, most of what is being built is obscure - I thought it would be prudent to post links to references.

NASA/Dryden

This site is a good place to start with lots there, from the first X-Craft operations right up to current events. It's a big site and takes a bit of searching but there are photo's movies brief annotation of operations, well worth a trawl.

X-1 to X-45

Jay Miller's mighty tome X-1 to X-45. Midland County Publications have the third edition hard back copy on sale for an incredible £15. This book weighs in at 440pp, there can't be too many better value books available currently.

I did add this in the old chat thread, but I think it's a great general interest aviation site that has a good selection of X-Plane photos collated from around the web:

Let's not forget the UK used design and test as well.

Olimp and Aningrad among others cover some of these.

Continental Europe had some interesting projects as well.

This is a rather interesting page of various experimental designs, some flew, some never made it further than the artist's impression.

Strange Mecha

Can't help with the kits however, but there may some esoteric subjects floating around in someone's stash...!
