stalal
Revell kits do not have centre line pylon for the fuel tank. Is the centre line fuel tank any different from the wing pylons for the fuel tanks? Any reference photos?
PhantomBigStu
Should be the same as the pylons are physicals part of the tanks, so if you want one on the centerline you use one if the wing ones
stalal
There is a lot of detail behind the pilot seat, are there any pictures that can shared of that area of the cockpit? Also, Revell kit has made the front of the cockpit, the coaming, very basic. I have seen a lot more detail there but since pictures are distant, they dont make much sense. Any pictures shared of that area too will be very helpful.
xffw45343tg
Those are mounting points for conformal fuel tanks (which, incidentally, have not yet flown). They're only on the newer Tranche 3 jets. Bobski, is there anything about Typhoons that you don't know?
Bobski
Bobski, is there anything about Typhoons that you don't know? Oh yes, absolutely. I am by no means an "expert" on Typhoon, nor would I ever claim to be one.
4scourge7
Hi all I take it all one needs to physically do to the Revell 1/72 kit to get DA2 ZH588 (now hanging in the RAF Museum at Hendon) would be add the pitot tube(?) to the nose? Please shout-out if I`m wrong. May give DIY decals a try again TIA Cheers, Ian PS- RAF Typhoon`s on Sky News prog called `Britain`s Top Guns`, this Sunday at 20:30. I don't have an exhaustive list but there are differences around the wingtip pods and the seat. It shouldn't be too hard to do provided you check some references :-)

xffw45343tg
Iirc, there are analogue instruments on the left hand side of the instrument panel. There is one picture of this on airliners.net. I also recall reading that the seat started off as a mk12(?) but was later upgraded to production standard. Hth. stalal
Does anyone have any pictures of the back of the ejection seat? I see a lot of stuff there and some scratchbuilding opportunity.
PhantomBigStu
@Kirk, may be wrong on this but I think the italeri kit is most representative of the prototypes so that might be the port of call

xffw45343tg
Post how you get on Ian. I have a Revell Typhoon in my stash earmarked as ZH588. Was thinking of using decal for the numerous strain sensors(?) . The Target Lock page has some info about ZH588 and the airliners.net pic is here. Shout if you're going down the print your own decals route as I'm up for a set. Otherwise the Italeri kit mentioned above has tri-nation roundels. Think I've seen the cockerel somewhere too. I have a nagging feeling it was a Model Alliance set(???) Cheers, Kirk
4scourge7
Thanks for that Kirk. If and when I fit in DA2 I`ll post. I can see some differences now, wingtip pods, etc. I was stood next to DA2 not that long ago and didn`t even notice the differences, Durrrr! 4scourge7
Lovely work James. I don`t think I`ve seen a Typhoon pictured with a mix of Paveway II and IV weapons before now. All good stuff, thanks. Cheers, Ian

PhantomBigStu
thanks EDIT: what a wally, I don't have LITENING pod, would be wrogn to put bombs on my one without one of those on the centreline, guess have to do without them Edited November 14, 2015 by PhantomBigStu

You don't necessarily need a designation pod to drop LGB's. you can have your bombs designated by another aircraft or by a ground based designator. Its desirable to have a Designator pod fitted but not mandatory. Selwyn

Selwyn true, but AFAIK the policy now is for self designation so highly unlikly in reality to see the bobms without litening fitted, maybe I will fit them, can always add the litening later when freighttdog get them back in stock Edited November 14, 2015 by PhantomBigStu
