Scarlet
Hasegawa kit with Leading Edge decals. Had a good look at some RCAF F-104's during a squadron exchange at Binbrook (1984 I think) and they had a very worn and dirty appearence, so a bit of weathering was required.I started the build about 5 years ago, but the build stalled at the paint stage and it has sat in the top of the wardrobe since. Had a burst of inspiration the other week and decided to finish it. Used Humbrol and Revell paints and Humbrol acrylic matt varnish sprayed straight from the can. Forgot to fill the ejector pin marks on the flaps/ailerons

Simon G
Very nice indeed, how did you vary the tone of the upper surface colours? Si.
Scarlet
Very nice indeed, how did you vary the tone of the upper surface colours? Added white to the basic colour, thinned the paint about 70% thinner to 30% paint and then highlighted the centre of the panels and in between the rivet lines on the rear fuselage. A little bit of trial and error, adding more white as required, until I got the effect I wanted. I used my Iwata Eclipse set to 15 psi.
seadog
Someone once said that the 104 looks like it's doing Mach 2 even when standing still... Let me tell you as an old fart that they blew our minds when I was a kid...still did the last time I saw them flying hard - two escorting a tornado alongside the A61 in Germany in 1981/2? right down on the deck. That year's big Nato games. Your model has really caught it beautifully. F

Spitfire31
Very convincing and impressive representation indeed! A couple of closeups wouldn't come amiss… ;-) Best, Joachim
