nick
Still waiting for my 312 veloticy stacks - anyone deal with Karmodels in Canada? they appear to take your money quite happily, fail to send you any stuff and then ignore your e-mails for weeks on end. Great business model if you don't want anyone to ever buy anything off you ever again then tell all their friends. Anyway, whilst I'm still waiting for that, lashed together the Ka-models wheels for my cheapo revell 250, quite taken with them and the upgrade pack generally. Gajman
If they're an indication of what's to come then we're in for a great build. Those look good.
nick
Had another dabble today. First go at covering seats, not that impressed looks like thick carpet on them at this scale. Glad it's my cheapo Revell and not the Hiro one - won't be doing that again!
nick
Made some more progress today, quite pleased with how the carbs have turned out, not sure if can be bothered with the ignition wiring as this is only a practice run Got the 'crackle black' effect on the cam covers by using a high pressure, thick paint and moving the airbrush a long way away so the paint dries into speckles before it hits the work, wanted to practice this technique, so quite happy for a first attemot. baldrick
Thats very nice. I love the wire wheels. Can you tell me what scale the model is? Not been following the group build. Dave...

Mike
Looks grand Nick, and yes... you do need to wire it up. It'd be a shame not to.
Obi-Jiff Kenobi
Yeah, it does look a bit naked without wiring. That would set your work off a treat. Obi-Jiff
nick
Took everyone's advice and got some wiring and plumbing done Ditched the axminster off the seats as well, went for my long distance, rough surface airbrushing technique. The piping had me stumped for a while, until I came up with using very thin enamelled wire sprayed with white etching priming, quite pleased with the result So much for the quick 'practice build' Used some neat convoluted tubing for the fuel line as well from hiroboy. nick
In the cold light of day that throttle linkage looks ridiculous, it'll have to go and be replaced with something much finer. Nick

nick
I get the feeling this will be a bit good.Obi-Jiff No pressure then. This will be my first car 'proper paint job', so bear with me! No postings for a while - not a happy bunny, should be flying out to Rome in the morning, for a five-star blow out. So much for that then. Making do with a few days in London instead. )-: Nick Edited April 17, 2010 by nick
nick
There's clearly something wrong here, I'm actually quite enjoying this now. Got a load more detail done today today Specifically, one harness, exhausts, shocks and scratch made a windscreen washer bag that I'm rather pleased with (-: sheet of plasticard and shaped and smoothed bluetac painted up to form the bag. Still need to scratch make a battery, igntion coils and brake resevoirs. Considering having a go at turning some air horns as well - not hopeful! Harnesses were a pain to make, turned out reasonably OK, maybe a bit hairy Steering wheel rim is much too thick and out scale, might try forming one from wire with a soldered joint. Happy with the shocks, maybe need some decals? Haven't addressed the brakes at all, so they look rubbish so far I know Added some detail to the fuel tank as well Thanks for looking Nick Edited April 18, 2010 by nick
cmatthewbacon
That looks wonderful! You're gonna have to do something with the windows so that we can all see that amazing work when you get it all together! Very well done indeed... bestest, M. nick
Back from Hols! London rather than Rome, bloody Volcano )-: Anyway managed to slap some red stuff on, not my strongest skill, but I think it's OK. More orange peel than glass but I think I may finally be getting the hang of it a bit now. It's all just lashed together for now. nick
I'm calling it done. Moved to showroom now. Learnt a lot with this - Glad it's not the proper one, I've got a long way to go with fit and finish. Can't remember the last time I built an aircraft, hmm.
