Into this one we go with a TOKO Hansa-Brandenburg W-29 to start with.

This one, in fact!


It's sprueshots etc:


It has actually been started. One float has been glued up, as has the engine, and lots of parts removed from the sprues.




Hoping for a straightforward build with this one, I've never used lozenge camo decals before, so that's a new technique to learn!

Both of them will be built OOB- I'll probably find that quite taxing enough!!

Thanks for the offer, but I did intend building it as a standalone, I'm not ready to try figure painting yet!

OK, let's get these under way.
Here are the first photos of my builds.
I've started the W29 by doing some parts painting on the sprue:

and assembled the beaching trolley, and done some painting of parts off the sprue:

Then I took the wings and tailplane to paint the undersides in Linen, as well as the interior of the fuselage, although I must
admit to being a bit doubtful about that; yes, a fabric-covered fuselage might show "linen" as its interior colour, but the
W29 fuselage is wood-skinned, so a wood colour may e more appropriate. Ah well, still time for a little research before
closing the fuselage!

And that's where the W29 is so far!

The Mk IV tank is proceeding:


I think we'll be able to go over the top as required with these!

I'm stripping the paint off that wing- found 2 hairs in the paint when it dried, so I'll
drown it in "Multi-purpose cleaner" tonight and wash it all off in the morning!
Not the first time, probably won't be the last...........

- you might want to reduce the heavy ribbing too . 1 . it will help enormously with the decalling . 2 . the fabric on wings is drum tight in real life , a starved horse look is a throwback to ye olde time of modelling , just look at pictures of the real things and you'll see .

Progress to report on the Emhar Mk.IV Tank!
The basic structure is taking shape nicely:



Found a minor glitch with the unditching beams:The parts are wrongly numbered onthe instruction sheet, so I puzzled
for a little while about how to match up these L-section girders to look right, until I realised that the only way it would work
was to swap the front sections over from side to side. Instant result!
The instruction sheet doesn't help much with the unditching beams, the diagram appears to suggest assembling them
in situ onto the structure of the tank, but I found it much easier to assemble each beam individually on my cutting mat
to create these:

I'll carry on after the cement has "cured".

The Hansa-Brandenburg W.29 hasn't progressed very much farther, I've sanded the wing upper surfaces to reduce the
"rib effect", repainted the lower surfaces in "unbleached linen"and achieved, completely by chance, what appears to me
to be a very effective slightly uneven "streakiness" to the finish.I've tried to photograph it, but my camera seems
unable to capture it, so I won't be showing them yet! Modelling time is at a premium at the moment, so it'll move on.......eventually! Plenty of time yet!

Done a bit more tonight on the W29.
Fuselage closed up, currently secured with my Berna clamps.

The front 'pit interior is assembled onto the wing centre section. I've given the wing upper surface a glosscoat for decalling
purposes.

The Mk. IV tank is all glued up now, and ready for priming, painting and decalling.




Progress with the Hansa-Brandenburg as well!
Wings and fuselage glued up after a bit of dressing and relieving the slot in the fuselage where the centre section (allegedly)
fits.



Milliput added where the centre section goes, to smooth things out. (I know the photo doesn't show it, it just seemed
appropriate to include this shot) And I know that with the glue mark on it, I'll have to paint the wing undersurface
yet again before it's done!

A bit further with the Mk IV tank! A coat of Revell dark earth acrylic, followed up with a dry-brush
of Humbrol Linen enamel.



Looks lighter-coloured in the pix than in the styrene, and although I say it myself,
I have pleasantly surprised myself with the effect.Time for a gloss coat, then decals
and a dry-brush with the original dark earth.Then I'll spoil it with the tracks! and finish
with a matt coat. Getting there!

As far as the Hansa-Brandenburg goes,The paint is still giving me sh*t I'm still
having problems with the acrylic paint on the fuselage. The first dark grey coat was
lightly thinned (4:1) with Hydrogen hydroxide (think about it),and was lovely and smooth,
then a second coat went on, but unthinned, that was 'orrible-uneven and "lumpy", sanded
it off to bare plastic and re-applied more paint, but it's still uneven-will need another

Well, that's it for the Mk.IV "female" tank. Complete at last! I got a lot of stuff done on it
today, a coat of MicroGloss, decals, a coat of MicroFlat, a drybrush coat of Dark Earth (the
initial base colour) and the tracks fitted. I did try to apply a little weathering to the tracks,
but I found that the paint I was using (Revell acrylic) woudn't stick to them and made no
difference at all. So I abandoned that idea.....



So here she is....

Now that I have allowed the Hansa-Brandenburg W.29's paint time to dry and cure properly, it doesn't look half as bad as
it did last night, so I'll carry on with it as it is for now. Another coat of Linen on the wing undersides has sorted out the marks
and unevenness there. A gloss coat will be the next step, then those lozenge decals........

A bit further with the H-B W.29!

An evening of decalling:



I was a little apprehensive about the lozenge decals, but my fears proved to be largely
unfounded. There was a little cracking when trying to manipulate the decals into position,
but lots of MicroSet seems to have done the trick. It looks better than I deserve!


Beginning to look like an aeroplane now!
Details to add (armament, airscrew, etc.), then the float chassis to build and add, then
a matt varnish coat and she's finished!
