I don't think so Bobsie, I'll probably go for the good ol' Olive Drab. but there again I might change my mind. :undecided:

Bobsie me ol' fruit, just checked the history of 56 Sqn. and it seems as though the red 'Sweinhund' was flown by the Sqn. C.O. Cpt. Duncan Grinnell-Milne but he didn't take over until December 1918 so it might be a bit iffy to include it as part of the GB.

Great subject, but entirely the wrong scale sir! I prefer 'em small and delicate - like my women.

Yeehaaaa!!! :yahoo: The kit has arrived, the first impression on opening the box, is that it looks pretty good, very little flash and quite good detail, we will wait and see as regards fit etc. as the build progresses.

First update, engine assembly under way, fuselage sides and top cleaned up ready to start painting, I did a quick dry fit of the fuselage sides and there don't appear to be any problems, I must admit this is a very good kit, no flash and so far the minimum amount of clean up.

Cheers Chappies

Yes, as it happens dear boy, stabbed ones self in the bally old finger last night, what, nearly passed out but managed to land near the lines, bought the ol' girl down in one piece, treated by a jolly nice nurse, but hey ho, back to the front.

Cheers for now chaps.

Ok guys, some help required, I've been using Bobsie von Buckles' very useful SE5A ref pics for engine details, now I know the picture is of an Hispano engine in pristine condition, but I would assume the 'Viper' engine, when new, would have been much the same when it was installed in the A/C, assuming this, would I be correct in using these colours but suitably dirtied up?

Cheers

Pete,
Here are a couple of detailed scans of the viper.
Go with the same colours as the photo and just dirty up with one or two oil washes.
Enjoy

Thanks Bob, I knew we would get there in the end, but they give you the complete engine in the kit, but only the rocker covers and a bit of the cylinders can be seen when you get the panels on.
