Sabre_days
Not sure how much it'll help, but the National Museum of the USAF have some very nice full color photos of their F-100F on their website: http://www.nationalmuseum.af.mil/factsheet...ia.asp?fsID=296 Edited December 29, 2009 by Sabre_days
AnonymousFO98
Thanks Sabre will be a handy reference and have found some good walkarounds too, but can't seem to find any colour references i need- not even on some on line builds of other F-100 kits FWIW the Revell 1/72 kit looks pretty good, but the wings are a tad warped on mine Might start building straight from the box in the New Year might just have to guestimate from pics
Jens
The cockpit was FS 36231, and I believe the gear bays were interior green FS 34151. Regards, Jens
AnonymousFO98
FS 36231 Hu27 Tamiya XF54 Revell Aqua 36179 interior green FS 34151 Hu 151 but sadly no acrylic many thanks Jens that is a big help now just need to find out what colour the drop tanks are supposed to be, though i assumed they would have been NMF? Jens
You're welcome. As for the drop tanks they were usually natural metal on ditto airframes and camouflaged on SEA airframes. Regards, Jens
AnonymousFO98
The tanks may actually be napalm tanks mounted on the outer pylons without any fins. The interior green sounds a good call but the instructions again are confusing, showing shaded parts of the wheel wells as nmf and "M" the same colour as the seat cushions
Ben Brown
Here ya go: http://www.f-100.org/hun007.shtml Pretty much every USAF aircraft after about 1952 or so has a Dark Gull Grey cockpit. I've found Medium Green 34102 (the medium green is the SEA camo scheme) to be a pretty good match for the gear wells. They seemed to be a darker green than the Interior Greens from Testors or Polly Scale. HTH. Ben Edited December 30, 2009 by Ben Brown
AnonymousFO98
Thanks Ben added to faves FS34102 translates as Hu86 Light Olive, Tamiya XF58 (have both) and Revell 361 http://www.f-100.info/images/f-100d_napalm.jpg given as "K" Edited December 30, 2009 by walrus

These on this site are of current warbirds, polished to within an inch of their life. It is still a good site, though! M
