Julien
What can you thin it with, the steel is like glue in the tin! Julien
atdb27
Hi Julien, I have used the 'Usual Suspects' ie Humbrol Thinners, etc. Gloopy it might (an old tin?) but with progresive aditions of 'thinners' you can achieve usable mix for spraying etc. MX Adrian
Julien
The reason it seems to be thick is its totally bad. The paint pigment seems to sit in suspension in the thinner and not mix, when you try and paint with it it just clumps up. All 3 of my tins of steel are like this, the other colours are fine but the stell seems to be duff tins. Must be chinese quality control! Arh!!!!!!!!!!! spitfire
Strange that, my tins of polished steel are the most reliable, the gun metal is terrible. Cheers Den
Julien
Yea, a real bummer as I like the steel, not sure if I will buy anymore after getting 3 dud tins. Julien
Julien
Well I found an upside to the crap tins of steel, I had put some on some scrap plastic, as it went all lumpy and horrible I had left it. As the scrap is my test bed I decided to wipe it off. On wiping it off it has left a kind of greasy, oily slightly metalic sheen behind. I rekon this will be great to use as the final weathing on exhausts etc as it will just leave this very faint sheen behind. I am going to experiment a bit with this.
