Paul Davies
What colour for the Lightning interior?? Grey or black? What shade of grey if it's grey??thanks ciao Ale Hi First post here, hello everyone! I have had, prior to computer crash, pictures of Lightning cockpits in both black and a light\mid gray. It seems that British cockpits were black after we stopped using cockpit green, and later became gray, but I don't know at what point and I don't know if early cockpits were later re-painted. My Father started his RAF Career in 1971 on Lightnings and when I asked him he said "black", I double checked, "Not gray", "hmm could have been" he replied I think that early ones were black, and later ones gray, but can't offer more than that, I'm hoping someone else may be able to offer a little more as it's a question I could do with having answered definitively. AnonymousA667
Dick Ward used to quote matt medium grey on his Modeldecal sheets - I have a bunch of 'em here that say that, also some pictures in Ian Black's book 'Lightning' that back it up. peebeep
Paul Davies
This may be of some use http://www.thunder-and-lightnings.co.uk/li...ng/cockpit.html It seems the Cosford Lightning has a black interior, the others on the page are gray. rdxtnt
Seem to recall reading somewhere that the early Mk.1 Lightnings had black cockpits. The later models were grey.
