crookedmouth
Hats off to you. That's truly amazing. I know it's only a little thing, but my eye was caught by the cockpit leather padding. It looks hand-stitched

FZ6
Des, Just noticed your build and find it inspiring to say the least. I especially like the way you did the turnbuckles but the overall build is stunning. If mine looks half as good when I come to building it I'll be really happy. spitfire23bc
Des, this really is a beautiful build. I'm sorely tempted to get one of these and have a go, but I might find myself ogling this thread more than building the model..! Dan
magpie
Good to see it finished. There is not much I can add to the other comments except to say I have been following the build with fascination and admiration, it is simply magnificent! sinnerboy
Blinkin flip mate....as someone said earlier "thats modelling porn" the up side is wow thats just amazing...the down side is I am now seriously doubting whether to buy this kit as I would / could never match what you've done ( not that its a competition...but i'd just be dissapointed) anyway fantastic
Tiger2
Truly masterful, a wonderful build of a fabulous aircraft, I think the thing you manage to achieve with all your kits is a superb sense of realism within the scale you are working at. In other words, they don't look like models, it's as though you have taken a picture of a full size F2B and shrunk it down! Like the guy said before me, where do we lesser mortals go from here?!! Can't wait to see what you do with the new Roden Siemens D111. What's the lozenge like in it? I'd still be really grateful if you could post some shots of your Roden SE5a! beeza1
Hi Paul. Thank you, and all the others, for your kind words. I will get some photos done of the SE.5a, but you have to remember that this kit was done not long after I resumed modelling so I was still going through a retraining phase. Also, I didn't do a build photo log of that particular aircraft. Cheers Des.

damo74
Hi Des, S E N S A T I O N A L ! ! ! Great job on the Brisfit. Can i grab some info on the tubing you used for the turnbuckle sleeves? Is the outside diameter 0.4mm or is that the inner diameter? Also where do you get the tubing from(I live in Australia)? Once again outstanding job. Cheers Damo

beeza1
Thanks guys for your comments. Damo. The turnbuckles are made from 0.5mm brass tube drilled out to 0.4mm, the tube is supplied with an internal size of 0.33mm so drilling is very easy, I then cut it to a length of 3mm. The little brass sleeves for the rigging lines to loop through are the same size tube except cut to a length of 1.2mm. On my latest build, the Roden SSW D.III, the little brass sleeves are made from 0.4mm brass tube drilled out to 0.3mm and cut to 1.2mm. Everything is held together with runny CA. I buy the brass tube from jbmodel.eu They are very good with their pricing and postage to Australia normally only takes 4 - 5 days. I have had an enormous number of people asking me where to obtain the brass tube and because of that jbmodel of been out of stock on a few occasions, but they do replenish very quickly. Hope this helps you out and if there is anything else that I can help you with please feel free to ask. Cheers Des.

Outstanding Des, a real pleasure to read your build log and see the pictures as it develops. Hope you dont mind, but for the UK builders here I notice the brass tubing is Griffon, made in China. For UK bods out there its available from Historex Agents (Im not connected to them) though the speed to Aus from JB Models sounds amazing too. Again, apologies for the hijack of the log for a the Historex steer, Rgds, Jase. Edited February 12, 2010 by JaseGill
beeza1
Thank you Jase for your kind comments. It is always good for modellers to know where to obtain materials, I only mentioned jbmodel.eu because at the time it was the only place I could get the product. For Australian modellers I have found a supplier here; http://www.bnamodelworld.com Visit my website for complete build logs plus hints and tips. http://www.ww1aircraftmodels.com Des.
