Mal
Comrades, At last I am able to join our glorious group build,my entry a Yak 1b the mount of many of our Hero's of the Soviet Union during the Great Patriotic War. Accurate Miniatures Yak 1b the obligatory photographs of box, sprues and decals. I'll have to rely on the VVS website for references on the Yak I am not sure in which scheme I'll finish the aircraft, originally it was going to be a Normandie aircraft but having found photographs of the aircraft flown by Major Yeriomin the second aircraft on the Aeromaster decal sheet I might end up finishing it in that scheme. When I bought this kit, I was aware that the kit only had instructions and decals for a ski equipped Yak-1 but the parts for a 1b. I've been able to download the 1b instructions off Accurate Miniatures web site and the decals I already had in the stash. Malcolm
CPNGROATS
Malcolm: Nice pick for the GB. I have the early issue AM kit Yak-1 # 3424 and plan to use it as a reference for the Mikro 72 kit # S-02 of the Yak 1 that I am doing for this GB. The AM instruction sheet will be very helpful in making the Mikro kit more accurate. I am looking forward to seeing your model come togeather... Sovietski Cheers, ggc
AnonymousFO98
Hi Malcom The kit gets a very favourable mention and looks very good! which scheme are you going to do?
Mentalguru
Komradski- I am also building thsi kit of our illustrious hero's Yak fighter plane. Be sure to watch out for the way the cockpit tub fits and is supposed to be located by the lower wing- bastardski- pass the vodka tovarich Edited October 17, 2009 by Mentalguru
Mal
Comrade Mental, Perhaps it is time to suggest to our leadership that certain kit designers might enjoy some time in Siberia for undermining our noble cause. Jon Kunac-Tabinor
Tovarishii, I too will be building this glorious fighter of the Great Patriotic War, boxed by our fraternal brothers from the Czechoslovakian republic ( no offence mean tthere czech chums, just keeping witthe theme). Perhaps we could from our own Polk of Yakovlevs, better to strike down the fascists. And as Komrad Mental mentions, watch the cockpit fit, it has been tampered with by wreckers of the peoples paradise, to confuse the honest worker. Should you catch these bourgeois infiltrators, then treat them to a Makarov sandwich. Uncle Jonners

Mal
Comrade Mental and Jonners, Comrade Walrus was able to obtain plans from the capitalist press of our wondrous aircraft. If this source is to be believed the cannon protrudes by 2.5mm from the top of the cannon opening,(I think we my have to investigate Comrade Walrus's allegiance how does he obtain such information?). I have also heard from intelligence sources that the upper engine cowelling is wider than the lower fuselage. The fascist infiltrators are once again trying to undermine our glorious cause. Mal
Comrades, Fascist infiltrators, thought by providing ill fitting parts particularly those for the radiator assembly that they could undermine the construction of my glorious steed. But first- together, we mussst solv is tiny prorblemm. Nazi infiltrators have zumehow undermined the fit between the winngz and the main body of our illuzris fighter planes. This probblemmski wil need careful attensin and many fascist Americkan Accurut Miniters workers will be shot. Mal
Thanks for the comments,In effect it's the kit's cockpit, I used an Eduard RAF Sutton harness and replaced the the instrument panel decal with Mike Grant instrument and placard decals. Although the kit supplies decals for the instrument panel they are simply not as sharp as the ones on the Mike Grant sheet. I think the Mike Grant decal sheet is worth getting as for under £4.00 you get enough instruments and placards for around ten or more aircraft. Mal
Putting the stickers on now. I've not posted any updates as the build hasn't gone particularly smoothly,at times it's been a complete pain. I thought this would of been a nice easy build, single engine, single seat WWII monoplane fighter should have been a breeze but at every stage I seem to of run into problems. Everything crossed, should be able to post some photos early next week. Can I propose that the HSU should be awarded to Comrade Mentalski for dropping the flaps on his Yak-1. Jon Kunac-Tabinor
But surely Komrade - this is the work of our soviet sisters at the Bolshoi ballet? For such is the deftness of touch and lightness of finish that only the hands of a true Soviet woman could have rendered this destroyer of the fascist menace in such a graceful manner? What a joy it will be for our brave pilot komrades to to fight the Nazi horde in such an aircraft. Top model Malski!! Perhaps Chief Komrade Walrus will reward you with a dacha in the Crimea, and a car with a heater too.
