Well I finally finished it! Over 5 months in the making, I have at last put the finishing touches on this afternoon.

The kit is nothing short of brilliant, if a little pricey, and while not up to the ease of use standards we expect from an IM kit these days, it is certainly by far the best resin kit I've made. Look out for the build article in Model Airplane International some time in the near future :)

Awesome, Jen... just awesome.

Aren't you just a teeny bit worried about that big resin beastie and those thin little undercarriage/beaching dolly legs?

bestest,

M.

... and yes, please spill the beans on the wood effect - I've got a Firefly dinghy that needs lots of mahogany!

bestest,

M.

Thanks guys :)

To answer what I can, the wood effects are indeed oil paint over a beige basecoat finished with lashings of ginger beer Klear. The undercarriage is made from wire and is more than strong enough. The worrying part is the wing struts because they are all made from resin leaving it just a tad fragile :S

Just beautiful,

i remember seeing the fuselage of something

similar at the RAF museum at hendon and thought

that the varnished wood looked wonderful,

those flying boats really were works of art.

AND SO IS YOURS. great stuff
