AnonymousDFB1
A-10A 354th TFW 353rd TFSMyrtle Beach AFB78-715 Deployed toSaudi Arabia forOp Desert Desert Shield/Storm1990/91 * Kit manufacture: Tamiya * Scale: 1/48 * Type: A-10A Thunderbolt II * Extras used: Resin seat, donated by Peter Marshal and cast by TimB * Paints and colours used:Tamiya acrylics and Citadel Metallics . * Other info: Full build is here I've really enjoyed this kit. Yes it's old, yes it has raised panel line, but it's Tamiya and it goes together well. The fit is what we have come to expect from Tamiya the only thing in my book is the lack of detail in the cockpit and the rubbish supplied seat. Thanks for all the support and kind comments during the build.
Jabba
This RAN Seahawk served with HS-816 on HMAS Sydney during the Desert Shield/Storm. The bigger badge on the Stbd side was coloured in on the return journey to Australia. The kit is the Hasegawa one with the Hawkeye conversion set and decals.

gunny
I'm new here so be gentle, I was never really into model planes as a youngster and this was my effort back in the early 90's of a British Buccaneer, I hope to do a new one just to see if my skill have improved. This one suffered a shelf dive during one of my house moves hence a few bits missing Paul

Jabba
Now complete and thank goodness for that. I think that this has been one of the worst models that I have built, especially when compared with the Condor version of this aircraft. There is an interesting article in the latest International Air Power Review which is about the Iraqi interceptors on the first night of the 1991 conflict and talks about the downing of Lt Cdr Speicher's F/A-18C by a MiG-25 or by missile, but this has not been totally proved either way. Jabba
This model shows ZD746 (Alarm Belle) in early Jan 1991 when Alarm missiles could only be carried under the inner wing pylons. Although a 9 Sqn aircraft it was operated by 20 Sqn aircrew Tabuk in Saudi Arabia. The aircraft were later modified so that they could carry 3 of the missiles on the under fuselage pylons. From the pictures that I have it shows the aircraft to be alot cleaner and less worn than later in the campaign, and as I could not be sure if the nose art was painted on I have also left this off.
