Help needed if any is available, I know this model printer is a bit long in the tooth but it still works ok, now, the problem I have with it is, when I print a photo, it always comes out darker and more colour saturated than the picture is on my monitor, the pic on the monitor looks fine almost like the subject, any body have any ideas how I might fix this??????

It's a long time since I had an Epson, but in the printer driver box you should be able to set "application managed", or something like that. This means that your editing software will control the print output colours. If you have "printer managed" selected that could account for the difference. Also is your monitor calibrated? If not the screen image and printed image can look very different.

Go start/control panel/printers and faxes, double click on the required printer then 'printer' from the menu and look in either 'printing preferences' or 'options'. Lots of controls to play with.

I didn't make that very clear, sorry. I mean the setup window that will appear when you click print. There should be lots of options in there to set the printer up the way you want it.

I vaguely remember my Epson having the option to decide application or printer managed colours, but I don't know that printer specifically.

I don't know if it will work or not, but looking for the settings you guys have described, they don't appear to be anywhere that I can find them, however I have found on the Epson site in troubleshooting and setup a bit about Photoshop where it tells you how to set up Photoshop to match the printer and one of the colour settings they tell you to use is "Adobe RGB (1998)" for your workspace, also in the "printer/fax" section on the control panel/ printer/printer properties in the colour management section you can load in "Adobe RGB (1998)" I've set this as default and hopefully this will help to make the printer a bit more colour compatible with Photoshop.

Have you calibrated your monitor first off?
