Shaun
Hi folks, I have been approached by the local aviation group to build a model of a B-24D for memorial service for a Liberator that crashed in the local area in 1944. I think the Hasegawa kit will fit the bill, but is it worth the expense?, I don't want to drop a bill to the treasurer which will give him a heart attack! What other option are available? Shaun. gunpowder17
I have one thats part built. It builds beautifully. No filler yet and the exterior detail is very nice.
rossm
Based on eyeballing the two kits I've decided to go with the Academy/Minicraft version. It doesn't have quite the detail (cockpit, engines) but it looked the easier to build and it's cheaper. I only started it yesterday so don't have definitive news on how it's going together. Gmat
If you want something that looks nice and doesn't have to be totally accurate, then the Minicraft B-24, if found at a cheaper price, will be OK for your needs. Best wishes, Grant
Shaun
Thanks for all the replys. I don't need it to be 100% accurate, so I'll have a troll around and see what I can find for the project. Shaun. Big Kohona
I believe that one of the biggest beefs with the Academy kit are the engine nacelles. From what I have read, Hasegawa's kit is definitely the more accurate of the two, but as you know, it comes with a rather hefty price tag. Short of purchasing from HLJ, I do not think you will find a reasonable price elsewhere for this kit.
juanchopancho
In the US you can find them for a reasonable price at scalehobbyist.com for around $55, pretty similar to HLJ after you convert from YEN. Much better than $80 from Squadron.
