Just for Bex, I started putting the decals on last night.

These are the most horrible decals I've used in absolutely ages! They break up, and can curl up - on the model. Yeuch!

A few more decals last night:

I've got serious doubts that all the small instructions can be applied.

So you might get ejection triangles - and not much else.

Well, loads of stencil decals broke up - but I carried on, until I ran out of them.
Her she is, as of this morning.

And tonight. Very crude and in need of a lot of cleaning up, but lowered slats and flaps.

And from underneath.

Very nice Tim, nice touch with the flaps and ailerons, hopefully, someone will bring out a Phantom with positionable flaps and ailerons. (The ailerons on a phantom, incidentally, are the outer trailing edge"flaps", and usually are lowered at less an angle than the "real"flaps for landing and takeoff. A Phantom banks by diffentially lowering an aileron and raising the opposite spoiler. You all probably knew this any way!). Nice choice of markings too, I have these markings by Aeromaster for a future Phantom.

Undercarriage!
Posted Image
Thats a modified noseleg from a Hasegawa F-4K.
Posted Image

Unfortunately I dropped this model last night, which broke the noseleg - so overnight repair.
It also broke a lug off one of the stabilators - which had been modified to "stick full back" position.
The modification also increased the anhedral noticeably - so another opportunity has presented itself.

Every cloud and all that.

Hoping to complete this model in time for Yeovilton.

This was the scene earlier tonight.
Tim's rig to set the stabilator anhedral - consisting:
Model jacked up on its box,
tape showing forward edge of stabilator, sprue glued to rear fuselage at 'stickback' angle of stab.
another box jacked up underneath to get the anhedral correct.
Posted Image

However since then, I fell down the stairs whilst carrying it :shithappens: This Phantom's second crash in 2 days - and a BIG one. Damage was surprisingly light - just loss off both stabs, nose-wheels, and canopy bowscreen. Amazingly the maingear is unaffected.
I've re-assembled the undercarriage, and canopy so far.

Great Save Tim!!

I like what you are doing with this, are you adding a base to it?

Maybe I missed it but what colour/make of paint did you use for the gull grey?

Cheers

That will be the intention.
Originally to have the deck-crew swarming around the catapult, as it's attached.
However when I realised that figures would cost double what the aircraft kit cost me - and I had no idea if flaps/slats idea would work for this kit, I cropped my deck ideas, to a bit of catapult real-estate immediately under the plane.

Maybe I missed it but what colour/make of paint did you use for the gull grey?
