Neil.C
Just got hold of the above in pre owned condition. It's pretty big! I really think it looks a bit too intricate for my skill level to be honest so I'd be interested in any tips anyone could give me who has built one of these. Thanks. Troy Smith
Hi Neil the place I'd look is Large Scale Planes so googled "large scale planes trumpeter spitfire" also this review http://kits.kitreview.com/spitfirevbreviewbg_1.htm a few silly errors Look on Large Scale Planes. eg Mk.VI but basically the same kit https://www.largescaleplanes.com/reviews/review.php?rid=832 builds https://www.largescaleplanes.com/articles/article.php?aid=527 https://www.largescaleplanes.com/articles/article.php?aid=3226 note, the two builds I saw here are by people who have not done much research, specially Spitfires don't have dropped flaps on the ground except for maintenance, red door crowbars are post war, and apart from the cockpit and engine bearers, the rest of the internals are aluminium paint... and the UC legs/door sit looks funny. Does seem the it like most Trumpeter kits fits well and is easy to build. here's a really good build http://www.hyperscale.com/2016/features/spitfirevb24ron_1.htm mentions needing to adjust the sit of the UC legs google will turn up more for you HTH
VMA131Marine
The main problems are the prop and spinner, the "fabric covered" horizontal stabilizer, and the absolutely comical seat. Grey Matter has accurate replacements for all these parts. There are certainly other things you could do, but this fixes the silly errors. 1
Neil.C
Thanks for the info. I'll be honest I bought the kit for a tenner from a gent who know longer has the time to build it. Came with about fifteen tins of Revell enamel too! He has put together part of the engine and seat and roughly painted it but as I am only just getting back to the hobby and previously only building 1/72 this looks a bit daunting to say the least! Still, I won't be able to start it for a month as I'm off to the US in a couple of days. When I get round to it gawd knows what it will turn out like but I'll put up some pics just for general amusement.

My son spotted it in his garage and knowing my interest reported back to me. I offered a tenner and he accepted. My son told me it was a big Airfix kit so I assumed it was a 1/48. Then this giant box appeared! 1
