Sorry Alan but if I can't get that photo it is being built as this :

Two nice options there, Irish and Lebanese.  If you're interested in reading a bit about Irish helicopter SAR, Nine Lives by David Courtney's a decent read.  Easy to spot cover showing a S-61 exercising with (I think) an Arun Class lifeboat.

Yup...They're pretty attractive in red, white and black (looks just like a UK Coastguard G- scheme) or red white and blue (a dead ringer for Bristow). Where's the camouflage? Where're the guns n missiles (great name for a rock band - sounds a bit familiar though).
I'll for forgive you this one then, since civie Meteors, JPs and other decommissioned WMDs are on my stach-reduction programme too!

Incidently, would the serial-bedecked S-61N to which you refer have been as long ago as 1970-75 while I would still have been buying Air Pictorial? Because something is rattling around in my memory about seeing something like that in their register review.

Probably yes.

They were on some MoD contract.

The Lebanese ones were ex Aberdeen..BIH possibly. They just stuck on the transfers and saved on the paint.

On a related note has one snagged one Whirlybirds S-61N full kit as opposed to their previous conversion kits?

Good question TTK, I didn't even know they had done a full kit!

I just want one in 1:200 scale

If you can live with a diecast:                                                                                                                                                                                                     http://www.diecastaircraftforum.com/1-200-scale-model-aircraft/153385-not-often-seen-1-200-forum-helicopters.html

Thomo

@WhirlybirdModels does the full kit have cabin windows per chance?

I really, REALLY must get mine finished but I keep hoping someone makes me some clear cast resin windows so I don't have to :D

My conversion kit did, so one can only assume the full kit will have too.

There's also a 1/200 Sea King in Shapeways if you fancy a bit of scratchbuilding to a S-61N?

It would work out pricey with the rotors separate as well.

If you want to avoid an S61 we used to use oil platforms as a staging post on the way up to Norway....so a SK Mk4 would not look amiss.

Fuel and pee stop and fabulous fish and chips....them were the days
