If any film was made for 4k UHD it was 2001.

No UK dates for the theatrical release have been announced yet. I'm pretty sure the NMM in Bradford will be showing it at the Pictureville one of the Worlds few Cinerama (the format the film was intended for) capable theatres still around.

I saw this on first release in the old ABC in Ipswich. It was the biggest screen, 1500 seat theater in the area. Absolutely stunning. I have it on VHS but I will have the new disc when it is released.

4K restoration on the big screen. My favourite film of all time.

Went to see it. Bumped into a guy I used to work beside but haven't seen for twenty-odd years. He's a real film buff but had never seen 2001 on the big screen. His mate whom he was with had never seen it at all. All three of us left absolutely blown away. 🤩🤩🤩
