Bedders
Folks I'm tempted to invest in one of the Pro-Resin Hunter trainer kits in 1/72. Have any BMers scrutinised or built one? I'd be interested in any verdict on accuracy/buildability before shelling out the not inconsiderable sum required. Or any wider views on the best way to get to a decent Hunter trainer using the kits & conversion sets out there. TVM, Justin
dalea
I'm a step further advanced in that I bought one. If you do I don't think you'll be disappointed. However I haven't got any further than slapping some NATO Black around. There doesn't appear anything to be stop the see through effect looking through the intakes, so I've got an Odds and Ordnance set for that. Haven't taken that out of its packet yet, so have no idea if it will work. The other way is to add a PJ resin nose to suitable fuselage but I'm reluctant to saw up a Revell fuselage for that. May not see them again. , Edited April 8, 2018 by dalea clarification
Graeme H
I looked at the Pro Resin one at a Telford show, but I have a lot of Revell Hunters still, and the price put me off, so went with conversions, I have so far tried 2. I bought the O&O one at Telford many years ago, for the T8M, still getting it over the finish line a lot of years later, found that the nose was a different height from top to bottom, probably 2mm, not unusual being all one piece, which was a total pain, had to do a lot of sanding and correcting behind the canopy as well, but otherwise seems OK. I also got the PJ one at the same show, not finished it either as I found I had put both halves together of the Swiss nose with the 2 cannons and Sabrinas, and I really wanted to do the RAF one, so not got around to modifying it yet, I thought it was much better overall, in that it fitted to the Revell kit really well and looked the part, not tried the clear part yet, currently unavailable from PJ, but I see Hannants still have some, so as a warning it comes with 2 LH fuselage halves, one with a Cannon and Sabrina, and one without, don't get them mixed up https://www.hannants.co.uk/product/PJ721207 Surprisingly I looked at both in the last couple of weeks, and felt I needed to get back into them, feeling a bit of Hunter love coming on, but that could be because I just bought a Revell F6 for a good price a couple of weeks ago, which is what drove me to look at them.
Bedders
Thanks guys - useful stuff. I saw a ProResin kit in the box the other week and thought it looked pretty good, hence the question. Also saw a boxed PJ conversion but didn't get to look inside. As far as I know the canopy on that is a bit tricky. And like you Dalea, i'm loathe to cut up a Revell single-seater fuselage to get me a trainer (not least cos I havent even got a Revell kit yet since the reissue). 71chally
I never seen it in the plastic (but pictures look good) and it is a bit expensive, but there is the LF Models T.7 / T.8 conversion sets for the Revell Hunter kit.

You do know that it has been re-released? http://www.jumbliesmodels.com/plastic-kits-c3/aviation-kits-c4/revell-1-72-100-years-raf-hawker-hunter-fga-9-aircraft-model-kit-p13117/s13450?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIif70v96x2gIVDYSRCh1__wfwEAYYASABEgLKsvD_BwE
dalea
Yes, but they're not exactly cheap. I can't afford to buy multiples of them all at once. It's been 10 years since they were last released and Revell might not be in existence in another 10 years time.

Or at least purchase the molds from Revell.
