Roger Holden
A brilliant choice. I love this plane ! I'd like to see them do some Belgian Fairey Foxes too....
Graham Boak
Fox, Firefly, Fantome...or an R 36. All attractive subjects, but I'm not sure how well they'd sell.

The various indigenous Fox marks were by far the most numerous types in the Belgian inventory (c.150) during their very short WW2 resistance and equipped at least 10 squadrons. Much more important than the R-31, which served with 2 squadrons, but is nevertheless very welcome. Firefly was done by Aeroclub.
Mr T
I have an Aeroclub Firefly in the stash, in John's trademark Caramel coloured plastic. Not a bad looking kit, but I think it is not for the inexperienced.

Colin1967
Hi Homebee, Thank you for your updates to my original post on this subject. I am delighted to see this kit and will be ordering a couple for sure. I hope Frrom Azur go on to do 1/72 Fairey Foxes that we need to complete our Belgian Air Force collections. ATB Colin. Roger Holden
I recommend the excellent Avions book 'L'Aeronautique Militaire Belge en Mai-Juin 1940' which contains the most accurate colour profiles of all the Belgian squadrons and the full operational story, if you can read French :-)

Colin1967
Hi J-W, Thank you for posting the profiles of the Renard R.31 and the in the box profile, that will please me very much, I think this aircraft is just a stunning and elegant, I applaud Frrom Azur for their choice. I hope we can persuade them to produce the Fairey Fox in 1/72 as well. I know their is a resin kit of the Fairey Fox from Omega Resins but, unluckily for me I don't have a very good success rate with full resin kits. Also grateful thanks to Homebee for posting details of Avions series of books we need for this model, my school boy French will be needed ! BTW - the green from top is presented from khaki-brown through some olive green to fresh, grass green. Any idea what it really should be? Regards J-W The colour they used was the old WW1 British PC10 , ordered from British suppliers, so khaki-brown/green is exactly it.... not green.
mrobeson
Forgive the ignorance of the type, but is that a massive raised ejector pin in the starboard fuselage half? Looks like two recessed one, and then a huge raised one within the framework

Here is a big set of photos of R-31 http://www.belgian-wings.be/Webpages/Navigator/Photos/MilltaryPics/interbellum/Renard R31/Renard R-31 Frontpage.html Many details are seen there. Looking at those photos I think I've noticed one problem. The Kestrel engine drived propeller anticlockwise. And in photo of sprues it looks clockwise I hope there is still time for correction... Regards J-W Hi J-W, Oh dear ! One for the aftermarket guys I think, just a bit of shame, however I shall still go with the kit as it's the only IM plastic one available. Could the gentleman be referring to the 'block' on the fuselage where the wing fits onto ? That's all I can think of ? And I am still looking forward to getting this kit. Best regards Colin.
Graham Boak
There are four ejection pin marks on the inside of the starboard fuselage half, and one raised circular feature. The last is considerably larger with rounded circumference and I assume that it is representation of some equipment.
mrobeson
The large, circular feature just below the observer's opening. Looks like either a mount for equipment, or a giant ejector tower
JWM
Perhaps a spare MG drum? There is a construction of R-31 replica in Belgian museum, but they did not put equipment inside yet https://get.google.com/albumarchive/107238265313281486528/album/AF1QipPYdKuWEEElJCsOZUQBpAP5rYqNF-V-MDQDTKzk Regards J-W

Roger Holden
Azur-FRROM replied and apologised for the mistake. They are looking into it to decide what can be done to correct it.
