Latinbear
These shots as well as the previous shots of the Aggressors are superb! I love seeing the different schemes and all of the aircraft of on the ramp. It's hard to believe that they were taken such a long time ago. Thanks very much for sharing these. Tiger331
Happy Days......Happy Memories.......Participated in various phases of Exercise RED FLAG in 1984 and 1985, which included a very memorable trip 'down range' in a 47 Sqn C-130K performing DACT with USAF F-5s and F-15s !. I had flown 100s of hours on C-130s prior to this but had no idea how much we could throw it around at low level. Talking of throwing it around, neither could the Jaguar pilot who had hitched a ride and eventually gave in and did a UH-1 over the aircraft ramp which was fortunately open !. Down at low level, the loadie acted as an additional pair of eyes utilising the recently re-fitted observation dome above the cockpit and the two rear para doors were locked open with a temporary 'safety net' installed using the strapping that was normally used to secure loads. This enabled two of the supernumerary crew members (normally Air Despatchers) to plug in and act as rear observers during the escape and evasion/DACT phase of the sorties. Great fun ! In those days, the ramp was full of US ANG F-4s and F-105s, the relatively new F-15 Eagles and USN F-14s along with the F-5s of course. I do recall some ANG or AFRES A-37s too and of course we occupied the bottom end of the vast ramp with our Jaguars, Buccaneers and in 1985 the very first Tornado Detachment for GREEN FLAG. Many, many thanks for sharing !
