Dads203
First part of the FV 436 fit out, the armoured DC gene input box. Added the earth point wing nut and the welds. Standard slave lead end to go onto this yet but much later. Cheers Dan
Dads203
This set will give me the correct slave lead ends for the gene box and a slave lead to wrap around the smoke grenade dischargers. also added the rear door stay loop. I'll add the arm to the back door later. Final drive oil filler caps (OEP220) added and bulked out with Magic sculpt, a bit better than the provided parts. Removing and filling parts that are specific to the 432. Gotten rid of those cam system brackets, they were eventually fitted but the kit parts are wrong and overscale, also removed the armoured coax outlet and antenna base, the 436 had a completely different affair, the VHF BAE was mounted on an armoured box. There were also another two above the back door. Cheers for looking Dan
Hamden
Looking good Dan, like the way you explain the differences between 432 and 436 Roger

Kev Ooops Tis the white box on the back, the standard 432 has a power tool socket and a standard NATO tow hitch socket for dragging Bar mine layers and the likes of, our 436's had a generator input panel in it's place. The slave lead is an industrial jump lead and the ends are built as such, the generator lead shared the same connections so you could use the generator to jump start a 432 or a Challenger. I do get carried away Dan 2
Dads203
More slow progress on the build, I've replaced the convoy light internal cover, Takom moulded this as a blob, its the right shape but not hollow. Its been replaced with some scrap PE, I've also removed the two big ejector pin marks on the BV tray. Vehicle Reg plate fitted. I'll add some welds to the door hinges, they are quite noticeable on the real deal. Track tension adjuster is fitted up, I've made this moveable so I can tension up the Masterclub tracks. The detail on this area is very good indeed. More detail going onto the front mud guards, the Takom kit has the later guards fitted that are missing these square brackets, holes need to drilled into these yet. Slow progress I know, but I'm going to get this build right Cheers Dan
Julien
Liking the attention to detail. Do you thing the Masterclub tracks will fir on the Accurate Armour 432, as the tracks they supply are not great. JUlien
Dads203
I see no reason why not, the AA sprockets might need some basic modifications but nothing to serious. Perhaps a bit of packing out with plastic card to get the width right. I’ve not tried with the AA kit as it’s in the stash somewhere but the resin tracks supplied are not the best. Dads203
Only an hour at the bench today, I started to detail up the most important bit of kit on the Det, the "BV" or boiling vessel, its basically a large kettle with a big lid, you can cook food or boil water froe a brew. Takom have provided the BV's but they missed a few bits off of them, the lids should have a carry handle and a small vent which is missing on the kit part. The mounting tray is also very basic and missing most of the details so I scratch built the tray, It still needs a few more parts adding but the basic's are done. I've used the Accurate Armour BV set as they are better than the kit part, they have the handles and the mushroom vent on the top lid, I'll have one BV open on my build. I'll also add the strap that secures them in place later, probably after painting the BV's. Cheers Chaps Dan

Dads203
So only managed to snatch a 30 min bench time today, I'm sorting out a few house jobs for Mrs Dads203, best keep her happy Used the time to make the door holding open stay, took about ten minutes to bend up and fit, these used to get really bent up if the crew forgot to close the back door before driving cross country. Hopefully a more full update tomorrow. Dan
bbudde
I will look at this one. I always liked the look of it and I drove in one as a kid in Lippstadt in '80 or roundabout on a "Tag der offenen Tür" then. I grew up 20 km from Soest. I remember several maneuvers in that time and angry farmers standing on their feshly cultivated fields afterwards. The barracks in Soest are now mostly part of the FH Soest/ Gesamthochschule Paderborn. Cheers
Dads203
Soest was an amazing posting, loved the area bbudde, I was on the bottom camp at Salamanca Barracks It's been a while since my last update, I've had to re decorate a bedroom so time at the bench is rather limited. I started on the armoured back bin, this is one of the more obvious changes from the standard 432 configuration, although I think they have been removed now as part of Bowman? Just plain old plastic card and stock used so far, the bin housed the SCRAT remote terminal and some other Ptarmigan secure telephone stuff. Part of the roof structure had to be cut away for the bin so some shimming is required, the back is not yet glued on as I need to detail it up more yet, hence some gaps. I need to add the welds , the hinges, handle and the catches yet. Cheers for looking in. Dan

Dads203
Cheers chaps, some slight progress again today. some of the details being added to the bin. Hinges need finishing off and the clamps for the door but it's getting there The real deal Cheers chaps Dan

Dads203
Some final detailing , welds , hinges , a few more details yet to add and I'm still figuring out how to make the wing nuts yet Cheers for looking Dan
Dads203
Plugging away with the smaller details, I think I managed to get the wingnut thing done, although I think I can do better Added the bolts to the hinges and the mudguard hooks, I just need to add a padlock now.
