Steve_farrier
Well I guess this could go here or go in to be figure category. This is my long term restoration of my Lynx character. I started her about 4 years ago, rushed and ruined it. Between then and now she’s sat in the cupboard with various bits broken off ; sword, fingers, ear, hair, tail. the casting is good of her skin, but awful for the armour she’s kind of not wearing! I started off removing most of the enamel paint I’d used previous. This was a good soak with mr muscle these photos don’t do justice to how bad the paint was!! Coupled with the fact I couldn’t get near her face to paint it... I had to start all over. (I’ve neglected to get photos of her in the mr muscle bag!) today Ay I started removing her clothes. (Calm down 😜😜) basically this consisted of snapping them in to a billion pieces with pliers, knives, sculpting tools. Soaking what remained of her in Tamiya airbrush cleaner... that stuffs strong! It even softened up the residue glue! (Way too much glue splurging out of everywhere!!) here are most of the pieces I’m keeping! The green is filler.. on the opposite leg there is white milliputty... this is what im using. These were testers. So after scalping her, gouging her skin apart and cutting rents in to her back. I started restoration this evening. Fingers now have sausages of milliputty on them (no photo) will be sculpted once dry The right hand ear is the new one. Hair is only dry fitted for photo collar has been re defined after the outfit she was wearing was removed resulting in lumpy blobs of glue remaining same with her back This is what she “should look like” These will be my reference photos for restoring her. However I doubt she will be exact thanks for reading
Corsairfoxfouruncle
Interesting ... I dont normally go for large Figures(Comic book or Anime). I have painted over 500 25mm figurines for Dungeons & Dragons and similar wargaming. I think I will follow as im curious to see how She turns out. Im planning on getting into Gundams soon and this may give me ideas to work with. Dennis

Thom216
Nice restoration work. Will be keeping 'abreast' of the situation. (snicker's like a teen) Edited March 6, 2018 by Thom216
Steve_farrier
So lots more done recently. Filling, sanding, filling. Undercoat... just to spot my rough sanding! Mph and some clothes made ! I thought about making these from clay/milliputty/resin. But settled on fabric. Why imitate cloth when you can use cloth? She’s of the right scale too that it’s not too difficult. These are just a first draft of the clothes. I may or may not keep them. incertainly need to do some work on her tail.. it’s a short stumpy affair that doesn’t look right. Not sure what to do but it’s not staying!
Schwarz-Brot
I think the fabric looks too rough in that scale. Maybe you can find some silk or something similar with very fine pattern to make the pieces from? Glueing might be better than sewing. I guess you'll have to experiment a bit. Obviously you've come a long way since you did her the first time. I do not touch up old miniatures, there's just too much out there that I want to paint. But it is very satisfying to see what a level can be achieved after just a few years in the hobby.
Steve_farrier
I think your probably right about the fabric. Having spent the last hour with her sat on the coffee table I can’t help but think about obi-wan-Kenobi. It could simply just be the colours the fabrics but think it’s more the coursness of the fabric. It looks like a heavy wool. 😒 silk... hmm not sure I’ve got any of that... unless the Mrs wants to part with her particulars 😂😂
Steve_farrier
Ok. Mor experiments. I’ve found a much much finer fabric. (I did sacrifice my 3 year olds Halloween 👻 costume... she won’t fit it next year anyway!! Wholst these photos are purple.. I have 3 samples in Black that I’m experimenting with. The fabric frays horrifically when cut. So short of buying some fabric fray iron on tape. I’ve soaked 2 samples in PVA glue. And I’ve spray glue fabric backed one. Here you can see the fabrics much finer than the white if used 🤞
Corsairfoxfouruncle
The PVA should help with molding and adhesion as well. I recommend you dont try C/A, it turns the fabric white Edited March 10, 2018 by Corsairfoxfouruncle
Steve_farrier
some more done in the last few days. more filling and filing, hand, arm and ha al bonded in pace. just awaiting the filler to dry on these before I file some more !! I've replaced the raised "studs" on her armour with metal studs and cast some resin spikey things as I didn't like the shabby look to the armour ( on her thighs)
Hunter Rose
cool, nothing like restoring an old kit to glory! I like the idea of material clothes, one tip for fraying polyester is to get a lighter and carefully melt the edge
Gimme Shelter
ah - she's fit... fabric is ok, but I wont be offended if you stick to the topless option... Love the restoration - with a body like hers, she deserves bringing back to all her former glory.
Steve_farrier
Today’s update. Probably more tomorrow lol. sword blade ... made and has some engraving on it. Opted for oven back plastic stuff as couldn’t be bothered going to the forge In this snow! Same with her tail. Originally the figure came with a 1imch stubby tail. Now it’s more like 4-5 inches long. Lots of little bits and pieces done and cleaned up from the original casting still. Today I made up some basecoat skin tone. Tail will not be pink as today all I could think was..... rat tail. And she’s supposed to be a cat!!
